Disney alum Matt Prokop ‘slammed the door’ in officers’ faces during arrest on child porn charges

Former Disney Channel star Matt Prokop didn’t react well when police came to his apartment in Victoria, Texas, on Christmas Eve to arrest him for breaking the terms of his release related to a 2024 aggravated assault case.

A man, 35, angrily shut the door on police when they tried to enter his apartment, but they still managed to get inside, according to TMZ.

When officers tried to arrest Prokop, he resisted by pulling away and twisting his body, attempting to avoid being handcuffed.

The ex-child actor now faces two additional charges of resisting and evading police. He’s currently being held at the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office Jail with a bail set at $117,500, according to their website.

New Year’s Eve brought another charge for Prokop: possession of child pornography. Authorities found ‘between 10 and 50’ images of this type.

In total, the 5ft11in suspect is facing two felonies and four misdemeanor charges.

Prokop’s ex-fiancée shared her story with the Daily Mail last Saturday, detailing what she claims was an aggravated assault by him.

She explained that even after many years, the trauma from the abuse still deeply affects her life.

I’m currently focusing on my own healing, surrounded by my close friends and family. This time for myself doesn’t diminish how serious or harmful his actions were. As details continue to emerge, I hope everyone remembers to treat all those affected with compassion, respect, and dignity.

Prokop reconnected with his former partner online when they were both young, but they didn’t start dating until she was older.

The Daily Mail contacted his team for a response to the claims, but they didn’t receive one right away.

Problems started for Prokop in 2014 when his former girlfriend and “Geek Charming” co-star, Sarah Hyland, obtained a restraining order against him. She alleged he had physically and verbally abused her during their four-year relationship.

In court documents, the 35-year-old former star of Modern Family stated that the person’s grip on her neck was so strong she couldn’t breathe or talk. She said she was terrified and feared for her life.

Hyland told Variety in 2024 that she is still ‘triggered’ over her experience as a DV survivor.

The pain lingers in that vulnerable part of you, where you constantly blame yourself, wondering if you could have acted differently, left the situation earlier, or asked for help, the award-winning actor shared.

‘I don’t know if that part [of] any woman will ever be fully healed from that.’

Ryan Prokop, who hasn’t worked professionally since 2014, is most famous for playing Jimmie ‘The Rocket Man’ Zara in the 2008 movie High School Musical 3: Senior Year. That film earned $252.9 million in theaters.

He also made guest appearances on popular TV shows like Hannah Montana on Disney Channel, The Office and Medium on NBC, and Modern Family on ABC.
