Oh my gosh, you guys, I just saw pictures of Peter Kay! He was at a bakery in Bolton – Bolton! – and he looked amazing! It’s the first time he’s really talked about how much weight he’s lost, and honestly, he looks so happy and healthy. I’m seriously so thrilled for him, and a little jealous of whoever got to see him grabbing a treat!
Fans were surprised to see the comedian, 52, back in the public eye last year, looking noticeably thinner after being out of the spotlight for five years.
He’s been open about struggling with binge eating for years, explaining that he’s tried numerous solutions to overcome it.
The comedian recently shared that he’d been working hard to lose weight, trying various methods like weight loss groups, hitting the gym, and even following exercise videos with his mother. This was the first time he publicly discussed his weight loss journey.
He was spotted this week in his hometown of Bolton, dressed casually in all black with a cap, while picking up a few things he needed.
Oh my gosh, I just saw Peter! He’s touring the UK, you guys, and he looked so good! He picked something up, and I noticed he was wearing comfy trainers – practical and stylish, honestly! Then he headed back to his car. I swear, even just seeing him walk away was amazing!

Peter revealed in a BBC Radio 2 interview with Sara Cox at The Lowry in Salford that he decided to make a change because he was worried about his health.
I really tried every possible thing to lose weight. I even went to weight-loss groups like Slimming World and WeightWatchers, trying them all, but nothing seemed to work.
He remembered the specific instance that helped him understand he had a problem with binge eating: secretly leaving the movie theater while on a date with his wife, Susan.
Peter admitted he’d made up an excuse about needing the restroom just to sneak out and grab a hotdog. He explained he was trying to stick to a diet, but his willpower failed him. To make it even more amusing, he caught a reflection of himself in a poster for the movie Babe while he was doing it.
I was shocked and thought, ‘You’re doing so well, it’s almost frustrating!’ It felt wrong to be upset with someone for succeeding at their diet, but that’s how I felt.
He mentioned that after tossing it in the trash, he quickly snatched it back before it touched the bottom and ended up eating it anyway.
Peter explained his unhealthy eating started in childhood, when his mother used to bring him pies to school.
The singer deeply disappointed fans in 2017 by cancelling his highly anticipated return to touring, citing unexpected family issues.

After the show was cancelled, the comedian stepped away from public life for five years.
Fans were intensely speculating about why he had disappeared, and his social media accounts went quiet. He finally returned in March 2018 to announce a charity screening of his show, Car Share.
The event aimed to collect donations for The Lily Foundation, a charity supporting children with mitochondrial disease. Peter explained on his blog that he had personal experience with the charity’s important work.
Peter vanished from public view for a year, and it’s said he moved to Tipperary, Ireland, where he intentionally kept a low profile.
A local resident told The Sun that Peter seemed determined to remain unnoticed and actively tried to avoid drawing attention to himself during his stay.
He wasn’t the type to hang out in local pubs or restaurants, and he generally kept to himself. People mostly just caught glimpses of him as he went by.
The neighbor said Peter was trying to avoid attention, but his pricey Range Rover made that difficult.

In November 2017, Peter mentioned his Irish vacation home during an appearance on The Late Late Show. He explained he prefers not to discuss it publicly, fearing it might attract burglars. He and his family have owned the property for twelve years.
You know, my family and I are creatures of habit when it comes to getaways. We practically live at our holiday home during school breaks! Honestly, though, winter isn’t our favourite time to go. The house takes so long to heat up, we usually skip Christmas there – it’s just too chilly!
Peter made an unexpected appearance at a Car Share screening in Blackpool’s Opera House in April 2019. The event, his first public outing in months, helped raise £34,000 for The Lily Foundation.
As a lifestyle expert, I remember when Peter announced he was coming back to the stage with a series of six ‘Dance For Life’ shows back in February 2020 – everyone was so excited! Unfortunately, like so many things, those shows had to be put on hold because of the COVID pandemic. It was a real disappointment, but safety had to come first.
The comedian briefly appeared on television again in April 2020 during BBC’s Big Night In Special, recreating a portion of his famous music video for the song (Is This The Way To) Amarillo.
He followed this up by performing two sold-out Dance For Life concerts to benefit Laura Nuttall, a 21-year-old battling an aggressive brain cancer called glioblastoma multiforme. Sadly, she passed away in May 2023.
In November 2022, Peter thrilled fans by announcing he’d be touring again after a 12-year break, with a regular monthly performance at London’s O2 Arena.
Peter was deeply touched when the Manchester audience gave him a long, enthusiastic standing ovation on his first night performing there, bringing him to tears.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what happened! Last month, Peter actually called out Cat Deeley – Cat Deeley! – right there on This Morning! He pointed out something she always does during interviews, and it was all live! Everyone watching was absolutely loving it, and honestly, so did I. It was such a moment!
The presenter, who works with Ben Shephard on ITV’s daytime show, chatted with the comedian about his tour, called ‘Better Late Than Never’.
Peter explained his choice to give all the profits from his tour to various cancer charities while chatting with Cat and Ben.
He shared the names of all twelve charities that will receive funding from the tour, which began in 2022 and has been so successful it’s been extended with additional dates.
The list of charities included organizations supporting those affected by various cancers, such as Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, Blood Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, and Prostate Cancer UK.
As the comedian read the names from his notes – he’d written them down to help him remember – he laughed at Cat, realizing she was simply saying ‘yes’ to every charity he mentioned.
He explained to the hosts that his tour has been going on for a long time. He’s added extra shows, and all the proceeds will be donated to twelve different charities, including Children with Cancer UK, the Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, and Blood Cancer UK, as well as organizations supporting bowel cancer research…
‘I’m not laughing at bowel cancer, it’s because she keeps saying, “yeah”.’
Cat looked flustered and started to laugh, hiding her face. Ben then chimed in, saying, ‘It’s called active listening – my wife does it, and it really annoys me!’

Looking into the camera, Peter playfully asked if anyone had problems with what he was doing and wanted to complain, then he went on to mention the charities he was supporting.
As a lifestyle commentator, I saw the reaction explode online the moment it happened! People immediately flooded X, what used to be Twitter, to share their excitement that someone had finally confronted Cat about her behavior. It was a really big moment, and everyone was talking about it!
Someone finally pointed out something funny! Peter Kay jokingly called attention to Cat Deeley’s habit of using filler words like ‘yep,’ ‘yeah,’ ‘aha,’ and ‘um’ while others are speaking.
Honestly, as someone who watches a lot of TV, I was really cracking up at Peter Kay finally shutting down all the constant little affirmations! You know, that ‘yep, yeah, uh huh’ thing some people do? It was so relatable to see someone finally call it out – it was long overdue!
