Apple TV Sci-Fi Action Show Grows Its Streaming Success After Season 2 Trailer

The popular sci-fi series on Apple TV+ is gaining even more attention after the release of a new trailer for its second season. Apple TV+ has become known for its strong lineup of sci-fi shows, including thought-provoking series like For All Mankind and the dystopian drama Silo. While the service features a lot of science fiction, it stands out by offering complex and varied perspectives within the genre.

One new show is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a TV series connected to the world of Godzilla and Kong. It takes place between the events of the 2014 Godzilla movie and 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The story centers on Cate Randa as she learns about her father’s involvement with a secret organization that tracks and captures massive creatures known as Titans – including Godzilla and Kong.

According to FlixPatrol, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is back in the Apple TV Top 10 as viewers anticipate its second season. As of January 14, 2026, the series is currently ranked tenth globally. Although it hasn’t reached the top spot in any single country, it’s performing well in several places, landing at Number 4 in the Bahamas, Fiji, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Interest in the show has surged after the release of the trailer for Monarch season 2. The trailer revealed that the new season will center around Titanus, a massive, tentacled sea creature even larger than Godzilla and Kong. If it escapes from its underground prison, it could mean disaster for the world.

The first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters revealed that Apex Cybernetics was already researching Skull Island before they built Mechagodzilla in Godzilla vs. Kong. The trailer for season 2 suggests Kong will play a major role, and shows him attacking the facility, making him a possible enemy at this point in the story.

This series is just one of several Monsterverse projects in development. Apple TV+ is planning additional spin-offs, including a prequel focusing on the Monarch organization, with Wyatt Russell reprising his role as a younger Lee Shaw. Currently slated for release in 2027, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova will likely feature Godzilla and Kong battling Spacegodzilla.

Even though season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters isn’t out for another month, it’s uncertain if the show can keep its current buzz going. However, the trailer already landed it on Apple TV’s top 10 list, suggesting it will likely be very popular when the new season premieres.
