Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I was scrolling through Instagram and found out Lauren Silverman – yes, the Lauren Silverman – has been driving around the UK without a valid license for over ten years! Can you even imagine?! Apparently, she just found out herself and posted about it last night. I’m honestly shocked! I follow her every move, and this is just…wild. I need to know everything!
The 48-year-old American socialite has a valid driver’s license in the US and a temporary one in the UK. However, she wasn’t aware that the UK license only allowed her to drive for a year as a resident before she needed to obtain a full UK license.
Lauren was upset to learn she can’t legally drive in Britain until she passes her driving test. She feels like she’s lost her freedom and ability to get around on her own.
Lauren needs to get her full UK driver’s license because she’s been driving with both a provisional license and a US license. She needs to pass both the theory and practical driving tests to do so.
I wasn’t aware there was a time limit for that. Apparently, it’s 12 months, and I’ve been here for 12 years! My mistake.

Until I pass this test, I won’t be able to drive, which means I’ll lose my freedom and independence.
I’m really disappointed about this, but I need to get it finished quickly. Does anyone have any advice or tips on how to do it efficiently? Thanks in advance for your help!
According to the official GOV.UK website, if you become a resident of Great Britain, you can continue driving with your current, valid driver’s license for up to 12 months.
After a year, if you want to drive in Great Britain, you’ll need to get a provisional license and pass both the theory and practical driving tests.
If you don’t follow these rules, it’s like driving without a license. This could result in a fine of up to £1000, or your vehicle could be seized, and you may receive up to six points on your driving license.
Driving without a valid licence means your car insurance is likely invalid.
I’m so thrilled for Lauren! She just got back from an amazing Barbados vacation with her fiancé, Simon Cowell, and their family. She brought along her son, Adam, and of course, their adorable son Eric – it sounds like they all had a wonderful, festive time!
Since being on the Netflix show The Next Act, which documented Simon Cowell’s search for a new boy band, she’s been using social media much more.
Fans were finally able to see details of Lauren’s relationship with the media mogul, after it began in 2013.
