Holly Ramsay shared how meaningful it was to have her mother, Tana, read a cherished bible verse during her wedding to Adam Peaty.
Gordon Ramsay’s 26-year-old daughter, Tilly, married Olympic swimmer Ben Hawkey, 31, in a grand wedding ceremony at Bath Abbey on December 17th.
Honestly, despite how beautiful the wedding looked, it was really heartbreaking. A terrible family argument happened, and it got so bad that Adam’s mother, Caroline, wasn’t even allowed to attend the ceremony. It completely cast a shadow over everything, and it was so sad to witness.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen firsthand how family dynamics can be so delicate, and this story really hits home. Poor Caroline was absolutely heartbroken when she received the news that she was no longer welcome at her son’s wedding this November. It all stemmed from a disagreement – she hadn’t been included in her future daughter-in-law’s hen party, and unfortunately, things escalated from there. It’s a really sad situation, and a reminder of how important communication is within families.
On Wednesday, Holly posted something to her Instagram Stories that was sadly ironic considering why Adam’s mother wasn’t there.
She posted a black-and-white snap of Tana at a reading stand in the church during her wedding.

I was so touched by the photo she shared! She captioned it saying how meaningful it was to have her mum read their favorite bible verse – 1 Corinthians 13. It really struck a chord with me, it’s such a beautiful verse.
This scripture emphasizes the importance of being kind and patient – traits that seemed to be lacking during the family conflict.
This passage describes love as being patient and kind. It explains that love isn’t jealous, showy, or arrogant.
It’s respectful of others, not boastful, and doesn’t hold grudges or get easily upset.
‘Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
‘It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.’
Gordon Ramsay recently praised his daughter Holly’s new husband, Adam, in a post that some fans believe will upset his own parents.
Gordon posted a congratulatory message to Adam and his wife Holly, responding to a post shared by the Olympian about their marriage.

The post featured photos from the wedding festivities, and Holly shared that her siblings had even given a speech before the wedding.
Gordon left a sweet comment on the post, writing: ‘Beautiful ❤️ love you both Dad @hollyramsaypeaty @adamramsaypeaty.’
However, some viewers pointed out that Gordon addressed both Adam and Holly as ‘Dad,’ and suggested this was a subtle reference to his difficult relationship with his own parents.
It seems you consistently cause problems for Adam’s parents and enjoy upsetting them. You disrupted his wedding, and you’re continuing to cause his family pain and embarrassment – it’s unacceptable.
Gordon, try to imagine if your own son was getting married and didn’t invite you or your wife. How would that make you feel? Your future son-in-law needs to stop creating these issues, as it’s incredibly hurtful for his parents to be excluded and they must be devastated. He really should be considerate of their feelings.
According to The Sun, Gordon Ramsay complimented his daughter Holly on her appearance during his wedding speech and told her new husband, Adam, how fortunate he was. He also pointed to his wife, Tana, saying Adam had a wonderful future to anticipate with Holly.
The article reported that Gordon made a hurtful comment to his daughter, Holly, about her father’s absence, saying, ‘It’s a shame you don’t have the same [parents].’
After the event, it came out that swimmer Adam’s mother was deeply upset and offended by Gordon’s mention of their long-running family conflict during his speech.

According to a family friend, the celebrity chef’s comment during the speech deeply upset her. They believe the remark was intentionally hurtful and pre-planned, describing it as both cruel and very painful.
Gordon reiterated his comments from last week’s appearance on This Morning, maintaining that his wedding speech was ‘perfect and heartfelt’.
He admitted it was a really emotional experience. As a father of three daughters, he’d always imagined walking them down the aisle, and when the moment finally came, he was overwhelmed with emotion.
The speech went really well – it was exactly what was needed. It’s important to connect with people, to be genuine and show emotion. It’s a challenging task, though.
Tilly, his daughter, revealed she’d heard the speech beforehand. She remembered, ‘It was Christmas Eve, I sat in his room for about an hour while he practiced reading it.’
‘Going through everything but no tweaks were needed, it was perfect. It made everybody cry.’
Holly stood by her father’s speech last week, even though Caroline was upset, explaining that she had been overjoyed while listening to it.
Holly shared a picture on British Vogue of herself and Adam happily laughing together while Gordon was speaking.

Honestly, one of the most beautiful parts of my dad’s speech was just looking at everyone in the room. It was such a wave of love and happiness – you could just feel it radiating from our guests. It was truly overwhelming in the best possible way.
Holly recently shared that her parents covered the costs of her and Adam’s honeymoon in Mauritius, describing it as their gift for the wedding. This comment appears to be another dig at her strained relationship with the Peaty family.
She explained they were heading to Mauritius for a relaxing beach vacation, a gift from her parents as their wedding present. She also mentioned she had to let her husband, Adam, know their honeymoon wouldn’t revolve around a large swimming pool.
Holly posted several wedding photos with a fashion magazine, including a slightly uncomfortable picture of her and her husband Adam with her parents and David and Victoria Beckham.
Okay, so the wedding photos are EVERYTHING. It was just… heartbreaking, honestly, that Adam’s parents weren’t there. But you know what? Gordon and Tana were AMAZING, standing right there with Adam and Holly like they were family – which, let’s be real, they totally are! They were right there in the picture with them, supporting Adam through everything. It was so sweet, even though it made me wish Adam’s parents could have been there too.
During his speech, Adam focused on his swim coach, Mel Marshall, calling her his biggest influence and source of support, and didn’t talk about his family or parents. He credited her with keeping him grounded and inspiring him to succeed.
Holly shared some details about her wedding, including that she and Adam chose George Michael’s “A Different Corner” for their first dance. She mentioned they’d actually picked the song early on in their relationship.
She also described her father-daughter dance with Gordon as ‘so special’.
More than 130 miles away in Staffordshire, Adam’s mother, Caroline, was devastated to miss what should have been a joyous occasion, and was overwhelmed with grief.
Standing in front of the house where he spent his childhood, 59-year-old Adam told The Mail on Sunday he wouldn’t allow himself to be hurt like that again.
She had told Daily Mail that she felt as if Holly and Adam ‘have cut my heart out’.
Just before walking into the abbey with his five-year-old son George, Adam received a heartbreaking text message from his aunt Louise, who hadn’t been invited to the wedding.
She wrote, expressing her hope that he would never experience the same intense pain he had caused their mother. Despite everything, she still loved him, and she expressed her disappointment and disapproval of both of them.
On this joyful day, and on every anniversary of it, please remember the deep pain you caused your mother – a pain that continues to haunt her.
The family disagreement started in September 2024 when Adam and Holly didn’t invite many of their relatives to their engagement party, which caused hurt feelings.
Honestly, it kills me that Caroline, the woman who practically lived at the training grounds getting her son ready, wasn’t invited to Holly’s hen do! Can you believe it? It was at that fancy Soho Farmhouse, and Tana Ramsay and Victoria Beckham were there, having the time of their lives. But Caroline? Completely left out. It just doesn’t seem right after everything she’s done for her son’s career!
