Empire praised the film as a captivating, real-time thriller that expertly builds suspense. They also highlighted it as one of Idris Elba’s best performances to date.
NerdAlert called the show fast-moving and reminiscent of older series, but found the ending to be a letdown.

I was reading an interview with Idris Elba, and he said we’re going to see a really changed Sam in season two. He hinted that the character will be quite different from what we’ve seen before, which is super exciting!
Idris Elba explained that he deliberately portrayed his character differently in terms of both personality and appearance compared to the first season. He wanted to create a noticeable shift in how the character seemed, both mentally and physically.
As the season unfolds, it becomes clear that this character is a deeply troubled person searching for understanding.
Hijack season two is streaming now on Apple TV.
