Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson Find Perfect Harmony in BTS ‘Song Sung Blue’ Clip [Exclusive]

Hugh Jackman has long impressed audiences with his musical talent, but his “Song Sung Blue” co-star, Kate Hudson, isn’t as known for her singing. However, a new clip from the movie’s behind-the-scenes footage reveals how quickly Hudson developed a strong musical connection and on-screen chemistry with Jackman. You can see their collaborative process in the clip below, and “Song Sung Blue” is currently available to rent or purchase digitally.

Universal Pictures describes the movie:

Inspired by a remarkable true story, “Lightning and Thunder” follows Mike and Claire, two struggling musicians who find love and pursue their dreams later in life. They form a lively tribute band to Neil Diamond, quickly growing from playing in their garage to local bars and, surprisingly, achieving fame in their hometown. Facing a difficult challenge, their love and shared passion for music help them find strength, rediscover hope, and inspire others.

Jackman Scores Another Hit With Audiences

Focus Features

The holidays offered moviegoers plenty of choices, from big sequels like Avatar: Fire and Ash and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, to films aiming for awards recognition like Hamnet and Marty Supreme. While Song Sung Blue didn’t grab as much attention as other December releases, it became a surprising hit with audiences, earning a 97% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hugh Jackman proved his talent as a performer with musicals like The Greatest Showman and Les Misérables, showcasing both acting ability and a strong singing voice. However, even those films only have audience approval ratings of 79% and 86%, respectively. He first became widely known in 2000 with his role as Wolverine in X-Men, which remains his most popular part. Despite the massive success of 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, earning $1.3 billion globally, it received a 94% positive audience score.

Like Hugh Jackman, Kate Hudson became a star almost overnight with her role in the 2000 film Almost Famous. The Cameron Crowe movie was a critical and popular success, earning a 91% score from critics and a 92% positive audience rating. More recently, in 2022, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery also received a 92% audience score, but Song Sung Blue proved even more popular. Hudson’s performance in Song Sung Blue was highly praised, earning her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical.
