Apple TV+’s sci-fi mystery series Pluribus, created by Vince Gilligan (known for Breaking Bad), has become Apple’s most popular series ever, according to Eddy Cue, a senior vice president at Apple. Looking back at 2025, Apple also noted that Pluribus and F1: The Movie were key to a significant increase in viewership during December – total viewing hours were up 36% compared to the previous year, marking a new monthly record.
Pluribus was very well-received by both critics and audiences, currently boasting a remarkable 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
RogerEbert.com predicts the show will be one of the most captivating and complex series of the year, and suggests it could become as culturally significant for this decade as Gilligan’s earlier work was for the start of the 21st century.

Tessa Smith of Mama’s Geeky praised Rhea Seehorn’s performance as the best of her career, calling the show a thrilling, unsettling, and remarkably realistic science fiction gem.
If you haven’t watched Pluribus yet, we won’t give away any spoilers. The show’s creators intentionally kept details under wraps before it became available last November.

Rhea Seehorn plays Carol Sturka, a writer who discovers she’s unaffected by an alien virus causing everyone around her to feel intensely happy and optimistic.
The show’s tagline reads: “The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.”

I was so curious about the new show, and I read that Gilligan actually explained to Inverse why they kept everything so under wraps before it even came out. It was interesting to learn why they were so secretive!
He explained he prefers audiences to start with no prior knowledge. He noted that not everyone feels that way, as some people like to know how a story ends before it even begins.
Everyone has their own preferences, but I prefer to remain largely unaware. I’m now attempting to apply that same approach to my audience.
Pluribus is streaming now on Apple TV.
The latest issue of Living Legends is out now, and this edition celebrates the incredible Dolly Parton! You can purchase ‘Dolly at 80’ at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
