‘How Old Am I?’ Gwyneth Paltrow Hilariously Reflected On Her Life After Interaction With Jacob Elordi

As people get older, it’s common to spend time thinking about their lives – the good, the bad, and everything in between. This is especially true around midlife, and actress Gwyneth Paltrow is currently at that stage. She recently joked that a conversation with actor Jacob Elordi, who starred in a remake of Frankenstein, made her suddenly question her own age.

What Did Gwyneth Paltrow Say About Reflecting On Life After Chatting With Jacob Elordi?

Gwyneth Paltrow has enjoyed a successful and ongoing career. She first gained recognition as an actress, winning an Oscar for her role in Shakespeare in Love and appearing in films like Seven, The Royal Tenenbaums, and several Marvel movies—though she jokingly admits she barely remembers them all! More recently, she’s become a successful businesswoman as the founder of the lifestyle brand, Goop.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently talked with Amy Poehler on her podcast, Good Hang, about looking back on her acting career. Paltrow, who is well-known not only for her movies but also for terms like “conscious uncoupling” and promoting wellness trends like bone broth, was asked if she’s learned to be more forgiving of herself. She said she has, and jokingly described how some in the film industry now see her as an established, veteran actress. She shared a funny story about a conversation she had with rising star Jacob Elordi to illustrate how she feels about being seen that way.

As someone close in age to Gwyneth Paltrow and Amy Poehler, I absolutely adore this! The way they imitate conversations with younger fans who recognize them is hilarious and spot-on.

I haven’t experienced fame myself, but I understand how strange it must be to have well-known people – like Jacob Elordi, who’s 28 – discuss your past work as if it happened a long time ago. It’s especially odd when they mention their parents enjoying something you did. While I’m sure Elordi meant it as a compliment, it definitely made Gwyneth Paltrow feel a bit old, as she realized during their conversation.

Fuck, I’m old as hell…Like, how old am I?

She doesn’t say exactly when, but the actress is probably referring to a conversation she had with Jacob Elordi around the time of their interview. It would make sense for him to mention Gwyneth Paltrow’s long career then. While she’s talked about things like turning 50 and becoming an empty nester, it’s completely understandable how strange it can be to really face your age, and talking to someone much younger definitely highlights that.
