Avengers: Doomsday confirms unexpected team-up in latest teaser trailer

A recent sneak peek at Avengers: Doomsday suggests Wakanda, Namor, and the Fantastic Four will be joining forces – a collaboration many fans predicted.

The new movie, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, is scheduled to come out in December. It focuses on a fight involving the New Avengers.

After three trailers hinted at the return of Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and a team-up with the X-Men, a new trailer has finally given fans a glimpse of Wakanda and its people.

I just saw the new clip from the Black Panther sequel and I’m so hyped! It looks like Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, is stepping into the Black Panther role, and we get glimpses of King M’Baku, Namora, and Namor too. Shuri’s talking about what seems like a huge upcoming fight against the main villain of the Marvel universe, and it looks intense!

The scene cuts to Namor as Shuri explains, “A king must prepare his people for what comes next. I have my own responsibilities to fulfill.”

A funny conversation between M’Baku and The Thing confirms that Wakanda and the Fantastic Four will meet in the upcoming Marvel movie. While we only see The Thing, it’s likely the rest of the Fantastic Four are with him – possibly on the same ship that appeared after the credits of Thunderbolts.

Black Panther actually first appeared in a Marvel comic book called Fantastic Four, specifically issue #52, way back in July 1966. Now that Shuri has become the new Black Panther in Wakanda Forever, fans are excited about the possibilities of interactions between the sequel’s characters – especially Namor, Sue Storm, and Reed Richards – and how that might play out in future stories.

Although Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman) and Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), portrayed by Vanessa Kirby and Pedro Pascal in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, share a strong and loving relationship in the new film, their connection wasn’t always so stable in the original comic books.

Okay, so Sue and Reed’s relationship was already a bit rocky, but things got way more complicated when Namor showed up. This was way back in Fantastic Four #4 from 1961 – before they were even married! It really threw a wrench into things, even then.

Namor has frequently attempted to win over Sue Storm in the comics, hoping to break up her relationship with Reed Richards. However, it’s questionable if this romantic rivalry will be explored in future storylines. Given that Sue and Reed are married and about to become parents with the birth of their son Franklin (as seen in First Steps), it seems improbable that Namor will succeed in separating them.

Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December.
