A popular actress from Game of Thrones jokingly explained why she hasn’t seen the hit new show, Heated Rivalry. Based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels, Heated Rivalry is an original series on Crave (available through HBO Max) that premiered in December 2025. It quickly became a streaming phenomenon, known for its very steamy scenes.
The series Heated Rivalry tells the love story of two professional hockey players, Shane Hollander (played by Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), as it unfolds over several years. The actors have gained significant attention and even presented an award at the 2026 Golden Globes, playfully suggesting that much of the audience was already familiar with the show.
Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, recently admitted on Late Night With Seth Meyers that she hasn’t seen the show Heated Rivalry. Interestingly, the show also featured author Rebecca Storrie, and the conversation turned to both of their experiences learning Russian for recent acting roles – Clarke for a project called Ponies. This prompted Seth Meyers to ask Clarke directly if she had watched Heated Rivalry.
She explained she can’t watch it because it’s not being broadcast in England. When Meyers playfully suggested it was too warm for English viewers, Clarke agreed, saying the BBC wasn’t showing it due to the heat. However, she promised she’d watch it later. Clarke is currently working on a new thriller series called Ponies, which will be available on Peacock starting January 15th.

I just heard about this cool new movie called Ponies. It’s set in 1970s Moscow and follows two secretaries who get pulled into a CIA plot after tragedy strikes their husbands. I’m already excited! And I’ve been noticing the lead actress, Clarke, everywhere lately – she was great in The Twits, Secret Invasion, The Pod Generation, and Last Christmas. She’s got a lot coming up too, including projects like Next Life, Criminal, and An Ideal Wife. Definitely adding Ponies to my watchlist!
Connor Storrie was also a guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers, where he talked about meeting people at the Golden Globes and rushing to make it to the show afterward. He also discussed how the success of Heated Rivalry has opened up new possibilities for his career, and shared a funny story about someone mistakenly believing he was fluent in Russian.
Seth Meyers jokingly asked Emilia Clarke how popular the show was, pointing out that even though her mother hadn’t watched it, she kept reminding Clarke that another cast member, Chris Storrie, would be on Late Night. Now that Heated Rivalry has been renewed for a second season – and will likely adapt more books from the Game Changers series – it seems like everyone is feeling the pressure to watch!
