Guess who! Local public school posts adorable throwback photo of former pupil after her Golden Globes win

Rose Byrne landed her first ever Golden Globe award on Sunday night. 

On Tuesday, the NSW Department of Education honored the Australian actress by posting an old photo from when she went to school in Sydney.

The photo, posted on Facebook, shows the 46-year-old looking much younger – appearing to be around 12 or 13 years old.

Congratulations to Rose Byrne, a former student of Balmain Public School, Hunters Hill High School, and Bradfield Senior College, on winning a Golden Globe!

One fan wrote that Rose Byrne has been a successful actress for a long time, and the Golden Globes are just now recognizing what people in Australia have known for years. They expressed a lot of national pride in her achievements.

Someone else commented on what a fantastic example she is of a talented, beautiful woman who benefited from the New South Wales public school system.

I’ve been a huge fan of Rose Byrne for ages, ever since ‘Heartbreak High’ and ‘Two Hands’! I actually recall reading somewhere years back that a photographer declared her the most photogenic Australian actress ever. So thrilled for her success – congratulations, Rose!

Rose achieved a significant milestone in her career on Monday, winning a Golden Globe for her performance in ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’.

The actress, known for her role in Bridesmaids, seemed genuinely surprised to win and confessed she hadn’t written a speech beforehand when she went on stage to accept her award at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

She explained that her husband, Bobby, couldn’t be there because he was at a reptile show in New Jersey – they were both going to get a bearded dragon!

She then thanked the producers of the movie – while joking about its relatively modest budget.

Rose explained she hadn’t prepared a speech, adding, ‘I didn’t actually sing in the movie.’ She then expressed her gratitude to her fellow nominees, saying she was incredibly surprised and honored to be there.

Rose won the award despite facing tough competition from nominees like Cynthia Erivo, known for her role in Wicked For Good, and Kate Hudson from Song Sung Blue.

The actress and Bobby Cannavale have been a couple since 2012. While they aren’t officially married, they consistently call each other ‘husband and wife’ when speaking publicly, according to Marie Claire.

They welcomed their first child, a son, Rocco, in 2016. Their second son, Rafa, was born in 2017.
