With so many movies available on Netflix, it can be hard to decide what to watch. Luckily, there are always great choices, including Netflix originals, classic films, and new releases. Just keep in mind that the selection is always changing, with movies being added and removed frequently.
With mid-January here, now’s a great time to catch projects before they’re no longer available. It’s also awards season, and our platform features many critically acclaimed films with compelling stories and excellent acting. Alongside all the new releases, these three movies are definitely worth watching—whether it’s your first time or a rewatch.
3. 28 Days Later (2003)

In the film 28 Days Later, Cillian Murphy plays Jim, who wakes up from a coma to find the UK overrun by a virus that turns people into violent, zombie-like creatures. He then joins a group of survivors in a desperate search for safety.
Danny Boyle’s film is full of suspense, but at its heart, it’s a story about finding connection and hope even in the darkest times. The series recently returned with 28 Years Later, now available on Netflix, making it a great choice to watch before the new film, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, arrives on January 16th.
2. Parasite (2019)

Even six years after its release, Bong Joon-Ho’s film Parasite still feels relevant today. The South Korean movie tells the story of a poor family who cleverly gets hired by a wealthy family, each member taking on a different role while secretly keeping their connection hidden. It’s a captivating film with unexpected turns and a powerful message about the gap between rich and poor.
The film Parasite received widespread critical acclaim and significantly changed the landscape for international films at the Oscars. It made history as the first non-English language film to win Best Picture, along with awards for Best Director, Best International Feature Film, and Best Original Screenplay at the 2020 Academy Awards. It will be leaving Netflix on January 31st, so don’t miss your chance to see this award-winning movie!
1. The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street is a fast-paced and engaging film based on the true story of stockbroker Jordan Belfort. With a fantastic cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, and Margot Robbie, it’s a consistently entertaining movie despite its almost three-hour length.
Now is a great time to watch The Wolf of Wall Street, especially with Leonardo DiCaprio receiving award buzz for his latest film. The movie is full of energy and showcases a brilliant performance by DiCaprio, plus a really funny appearance by the late Rob Reiner. It’s another excellent collaboration between director Martin Scorsese and DiCaprio.
