Top 5 Must-Watch Apple TV Shows This Week: January 12–16, 2026

January is shaping up to be a great month for Apple TV+! There are several new shows available, including some winners and nominees from the 2026 Golden Globes – perfect for a binge-watching session between January 12th and 16th.

Even though we’re waiting for new seasons of Drops of God and Shrinking later this month, a popular thriller series is coming back to Apple TV in just a few days. Apple TV+’s shows recently received recognition at the Golden Globes, with one series winning awards in two categories.

Hijack

This week, Apple TV+ is releasing the highly awaited second season of Hijack, featuring Idris Elba. The first season followed Sam Nelson, a skilled negotiator, as he dealt with a hijacked plane. Now, season 2 puts Sam in a similar high-stakes situation – this time, on a subway train in Berlin, Germany.

Season 2 of Hijack arrives on Apple TV this Wednesday, January 14th. New episodes will be released weekly every Wednesday until late February, for a total of 8 episodes. If you enjoy thrilling shows or are a fan of Idris Elba, be sure to add Hijack to your Apple TV watchlist and watch season 1 before the new season begins.

Pluribus

Fans of Apple TV are likely familiar with “Pluribus,” a highly praised and popular show that debuted in 2025. Created by Vince Gilligan, the series recently earned another major award at the 2026 Golden Globes, with Rhea Seehorn winning her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Drama. This win follows closely after she received the same award at the Critics Choice Awards just last week.

You can now watch all nine episodes of Pluribus season one on Apple TV. A second season is planned, though it’s still in the beginning stages. If you’re an Apple TV subscriber and haven’t seen it yet, Pluribus is a fantastic show that stands alongside other Apple TV hits like Ted Lasso, Dickinson, and For All Mankind as something you won’t want to miss.

Severance

Apple TV’s critically acclaimed series Severance, starring Adam Scott and Patricia Arquette, also received a Golden Globe nomination in 2026. After a three-year wait, the second season lived up to the hype, delivering a captivating, shocking, and deeply moving experience that firmly establishes Severance as a cornerstone of Apple TV+’s streaming offerings.

Despite winning 10 Emmys since its 2022 debut, the TV show Severance hasn’t won any Golden Globes. In 2026, it received four nominations – including one for Best Drama Series – and acting nods for Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman, but didn’t win in any category.

Though a Golden Globe win would be welcome – and seems likely given the upcoming third season – Severance is a brilliantly crafted dystopian sci-fi thriller. It evokes the unsettling atmosphere of The Twilight Zone while building on a unique idea and delivering it to its fullest extent.

Slow Horses

For five seasons, Slow Horses has been a fantastic, yet often missed, original series on Apple TV+. The spy thriller, starring Gary Oldman, gained more viewers with its fifth season, which came out in Fall 2025. Apple TV clearly recognizes its quality, having already renewed the show for seasons six and seven, with the first of those new seasons expected later this year.

Despite Gary Oldman receiving a nomination for his role in Slow Horses season 5, he didn’t win, losing to Noah Wyle from HBO Max’s The Pitt. Even so, Slow Horses remains Apple TV+’s top spy thriller, though Tehran, with its recently released fourth season and current global popularity, could become a strong competitor in 2026.

The Studio

Apple TV+’s hit show The Studio dominated awards season, winning big at the 2026 Golden Globes, the 2025 Emmys, and the 2026 Critics Choice Awards. Created and starring Seth Rogen, the show cleverly included an episode set at the Golden Globes, making it especially fitting when Rogen won awards for Best TV Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Male Actor in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy in real life.

Apple TV’s The Studio has officially cemented its place as the best new show of 2025, and its recent Golden Globe wins are just the icing on the cake. A major surprise at the Globes was Rose Byrne taking home the award for Best Female Actor in a Movie – Comedy or Musical, beating out even Emma Stone. If you enjoyed The Studio, you might also like Platonic, another Apple TV comedy starring Byrne and Seth Rogen. It’s a two-season show well worth watching.
