Sequel to The Housemaid Announced; The Housemaid’s Secret in Development

Following the success of the first movie, Lionsgate has approved a sequel to the thriller The Housemaid. The new film, titled The Housemaid’s Secret, will be based on the second book in Freida McFadden’s Housemaid series, and filming is planned to start later in 2026.

Directed by Paul Feig and featuring Sydney Sweeney, the movie The Housemaid came out in U.S. theaters on December 19, 2025. It quickly became a commercial success, earning over $133 million globally on a budget of just $35 million.

Lionsgate has confirmed that Ana de Armas will be back as Millie in the upcoming sequel, and she’ll also be a producer. Okay, so as a big fan of The Housemaid, I was really excited to hear Amanda Seyfried has hinted she’d be up for coming back! She played Nina in the first movie and apparently would be open to even a small role, like a cameo. It’s a bit tricky though, because her character isn’t in the second book, The Housemaid’s Secret, and Lionsgate hasn’t said anything official about her being involved yet.
