To celebrate its upcoming 30th anniversary, Pokémon has revealed new LEGO sets! Fans are now wondering if this could hint at a remake of the original Kanto region games.
With the start of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations in 2026, we’re seeing the first reveals, including a partnership with LEGO. Although today’s news isn’t about new video games, it suggests remakes might be coming, and offers fans a fun way to collect and showcase the original Kanto Pokémon – Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
Pokémon announces LEGO collaboration, featuring Kanto starters
LEGO collaborations are always popular, and fans are excited about the recent announcement of a Zelda LEGO set. Nintendo revealed the set, inspired by the game Ocarina of Time, to celebrate the series’ 40th anniversary in 2026. This has led many to speculate that Nintendo is also planning a remake of Ocarina of Time to be released this year or next.
With the Pokémon and LEGO partnership announced, fans are wondering what this means for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary. It looks like LEGO is planning three sets based on the original Kanto region. Here’s a look at all the Pokémon LEGO sets coming out in 2026, and how much they’ll cost.
- Pikachu & Poké Ball ($199.99)
- Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise ($649.99)
- Eevee ($59.99)
As a long-time Pokémon fan, I’ve noticed something interesting! The latest sets seem to be really focused on the original 150 Pokémon – you know, classics like Eevee, Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. These Pokémon are basically legends in the community, and it’s got me wondering… could this be a sign that a remake is on the way?
Are we looking at a Kanto remake in 2026?
A lot of Pokémon fans are hoping for a remake of the original Kanto region games. Some think this new LEGO set might be a clue that one is coming, but that’s probably not the case. So, what makes a Kanto remake so unlikely?
Pokémon recently remade the original Kanto region with Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu. A remake of Black and White would be a logical next step, and it’s possible we could see one this year. It’s been a couple of years since the last major remake – Diamond and Pearl – which came out in 2022.
A remake of the original Pokémon games (Kanto) seems unlikely, and this LEGO set is probably being released to appeal to fans who remember them fondly. Still, you never know what might happen!
