Stephen Graham has suggested that another season of Adolescence is being planned, especially after the show recently won a major award. Now that the drama might be coming back, fans are wondering what will happen next.
The Netflix series, co-written and co-created by Graham and Jack Thorne, centers on Eddie Miller (played by Graham) and the aftermath when his 13-year-old son, Jamie (Owen Cooper), is arrested in connection with a schoolgirl’s murder.
After receiving widespread praise from both audiences and critics, a second season had been discussed for a while. However, during Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards (January 11th), Graham strongly suggested that a new season was officially happening.
What to Read Next
After winning Best Actor for his role in the miniseries Adolescence, Graham was questioned by Deadline about a possible second season. He simply responded, “I can’t answer that question.”
You know, we’ve been brainstorming a lot of ideas for the future of the show – Jack and I have a bunch tucked away in our heads. We’re hoping to really start developing them in the next three or four years, so keep watching – there’s definitely more to come! As a fan, and also being involved behind the scenes as an executive producer, I’m really excited about what we’ve got planned.

The drama series won four awards total, including one for Graham. Cooper and Erin Doherty also received awards for their supporting roles, and the show itself was named Best Limited or Anthology Series.
Stephen Graham, known for his roles in A Thousand Blows and Boiling Point, had mentioned that future episodes wouldn’t continue the story of the Miller family. Instead, the show might shift to completely new stories and characters each season, becoming an anthology series.

He mentioned in May that a return to the show was still possible, and he’d be open to it – even with a completely new storyline. He also highlighted the show’s popularity around the world.
He explained that the project was initially conceived as a small, distinctly British story, and that was part of its charm. They never anticipated its widespread success, but they remained authentic throughout the process. He believes this authenticity, combined with integrity, respect, and a lot of heartfelt effort, is what resonated with audiences.
Adolescence is streaming now on Netflix.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can purchase ‘Dolly at 80’ at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
