Stephen Graham, a fellow actor who was visibly moved, and Owen Cooper’s father, Andy, proudly watched as the young Cooper made Golden Globes history on Sunday.
Sixteen-year-old Owen won the award for Best Supporting Actor at the recent, glamorous awards show, all while preparing for his high school exams.
This victory also makes him the second-youngest male to ever win a Golden Globe, following only Ricky Schroder, the star of ‘The Champ,’ who won the ‘New Star of the Year’ award in 1980 at age nine.
Walking onto the stage to receive the award, Owen thought about how far he’d come, looking out at the room filled with famous faces in Hollywood.
Being here at the Golden Globes is surreal. It’s an unbelievable moment, and my family and I are incredibly grateful for everything we’ve experienced.
I wasn’t sure if acting would be a good fit for me at first, but I decided to try drama classes anyway. It was a bit awkward being the only boy in the class, but I stuck with it. I’m still learning and improving every day, and I’m incredibly grateful to the people who have inspired and helped me along the way – I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

‘It’s mad, what is going on?’
Owen finished by expressing his gratitude to everyone who worked on Adolescence. He concluded with an enthusiastic speech and a reference to his favorite soccer team, Liverpool FC, which seemed to confuse the audience.
He said: ‘Bring on 2026. You’ll never walk alone.’
Owen won the award, beating out Ashley Walters, Billy Crudup (from The Morning Show), Walton Goggins and Jason Isaacs (both from The White Lotus), and Tramell Tillman (from Severance).
Andy, the boy’s proud father, beamed as his teenage son accepted the award. Stephen Graham, who played his father in the show, was equally thrilled for him.
Photos from the event, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, captured Andy becoming emotional while Owen delivered a speech on stage.
Stephen Graham also won an award for his performance on the night.
It was such a special moment! I was absolutely thrilled to see Graham receive his acting award, and even more touched when Leonardo DiCaprio presented it to him. They shared a really warm hug on stage before Graham delivered a lovely acceptance speech – a truly heartwarming scene.

He also highly commended his wife, Anna Walters, who contributed to ‘Adolescence’ as both an actress and a producer.
With emotion, Graham shared from the stage, ‘I truly believe you saved my life. I’m so grateful.’ He also expressed his deep love for his children, Grace and Alfie, saying, ‘I love you more than anything, always.’
He lovingly acknowledged his father, calling him his hero, and dedicated the award to his mother, as well as all his friends and family – those he knows understand how much they mean to him. He expressed that this achievement wouldn’t have been possible without their support.
Erin Doherty won an award for her supporting role and used her acceptance speech to thank therapists, which received a warm response from the audience.
She admitted she hesitated to speak for everyone, but added, “I think we all know therapy is helpful.” She explained that life can be challenging and mental health is incredibly important, expressing her gratitude to therapists and sharing how meaningful it was to portray one on screen. She finished with a heartfelt thank you.
The show also won the top award it was nominated for: Best Limited TV Series, Anthology Series, or TV Movie.
Oh my gosh, you guys, it’s HAPPENING! Timothée just completely blew past Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oscar predictions! I mean, Leo’s good in ‘One Battle After Another,’ but Timothée? He’s incredible! He just won the Golden Globe for ‘Marty Supreme’ – directed by the genius Josh Safdie, obviously – and now everyone’s saying he’s the frontrunner for Best Actor! I KNEW he could do it! I’m already planning my acceptance speech for him!
Leading up to awards season, Leonardo DiCaprio, 51, was the frontrunner to win Best Actor. However, according to predictions from Kalshi, a regulated exchange and prediction market, Timothée Chalamet is now the clear favorite to win the top acting prize at the Academy Awards in March.
Despite the competition, Leonardo DiCaprio’s film, One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, won Best Picture – Comedy or Musical at an awards ceremony held Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. It beat out films including Timothée Chalamet’s project, Blue Moon, Bugonia, No Other Choice, and Nouvelle Vague.
Oh my gosh, “One Battle After Another” absolutely swept the awards last night, winning four! But honestly, while I’m thrilled for it, I have a feeling Chloe Zhao’s “Hanmet” is going to be its biggest rival for the Oscars. “Hanmet” snagged the very last award – Best Picture – Drama – and beat out so many other great films to do it! Like, “Frankenstein,” “It Was Just An Accident,” “The Secret Agent,” “Sentimental Value,” and even “Sinners” were all up for it! It was amazing, but I’m already bracing myself for a tough Oscar race – I just know “Hanmet” is going to be a serious contender!
Three television shows took home awards: The Pitt won in the drama category, The Studio won for comedy or musical series, and Adolescence was recognized as the best limited series.
Thirty-year-old Timothée Chalamet sparked conversation when he seemingly ignored his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, while accepting his award for Marty Supreme.

The French actor had a standout moment at the awards show, winning the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy film. He finished his acceptance speech quickly, simply saying, ‘To my parents and partner, I love you. Thank you very much.’
Jenner, 28, received a surprisingly understated expression of affection after publicly professing her love at last week’s Critics Choice Awards in 2026.
Timothée Chalamet won the role, beating out strong contenders including Leonardo DiCaprio. Other actors considered for the part were George Clooney, Ethan Hawke, Lee Byung-Hun, and Jesse Plemons.
One Battle After Another was the big winner at the awards, taking home four prizes, including Best Picture for a comedy or musical. Paul Thomas Anderson won awards for both Best Director and Best Screenplay, and Teyana Taylor unexpectedly won Best Supporting Actress.
One Battle After Another has enjoyed a strong awards season so far, but it will face tough competition from the film Hamnet, featuring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, which recently won Best Picture in the Drama category.
Buckley won a major acting award, receiving the prize for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.
Irish actress, age 36, won an acting award, beating out well-known competitors like Jennifer Lawrence, Renate Reinsve, Julia Roberts, Tessa Thompson, and Eva Victor.
The show took home the award for Best Limited TV Series, Anthology Series, or TV Movie, beating out competitors like ‘All Her Fault,’ ‘The Beast in Me,’ ‘Black Mirror,’ ‘Dying for Sex,’ and ‘The Girlfriend’.
Noah Wyle continued his award streak after winning Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series – Drama at the Critics Choice Awards 2026 for his role in The Pitt, a show created by R. Scott Gemmill.
Wyle also guided the popular HBO show to win television’s highest award, as ‘The Pitt’ received the honor of Best Drama Series.
The Studio had a great night, winning both Best TV Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series, with Seth Rogen taking home the latter award.
