Rylan Clark’s mum Linda, 73, rushed to hospital after suffering a shoulder injury in a horror fall

Rylan Clark’s mother, Linda, was taken to the hospital after a bad fall at her home.

The 73-year-old television personality, known from Celebrity Gogglebox, fell and broke their shoulder after accidentally slipping on ice while taking out the trash. They thought the ice was water.

She told listeners on Rylan’s Radio 2 show on Saturday that she’d recently gone flying and unfortunately injured her arm again.

She confirmed she had broken her shoulder, explaining her arm was badly bruised and very painful.

Rylan described finding out about the accident, saying he received a concerning phone call that morning while someone was being taken to the hospital.

‘But it could’ve been worse, it could’ve been your arm and your leg like we’ve had before.’

He urged his mum to ‘be careful’ and rest to not make it any worse.

Rylan thanked his audience for their kind messages after playing a song requested by his mother.

He said: ‘So many of you getting in touch, thank you, yeah she is alright by the way.

She broke her shoulder. It’s just typical of her, always rushing and getting into things, and I don’t know how to help.

‘In all fairness though, it was an accident, she just slipped on some ice.’

He finished by reassuring fans that she is being well looked after while she recovers.

This news follows Rylan’s recent announcement that his mother, Linda, was unexpectedly hospitalized at Princess Alexandra Hospital in July.

The actor shared the news on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the medical team for their care.

I’m sending my best to a fellow presenter today. He had to step away from his BBC Radio 2 show because his mother is unwell, and he’s understandably focusing on family right now. It’s a good reminder that life happens, and it’s okay to prioritize what truly matters.

He wrote: ‘Mummy Linda isn’t well sadly so I won’t be hosting the show tomorrow.

I’d like to thank the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital, and especially Tanya, for the wonderful care they gave my mother.

‘Will keep you updated as she’s on the mend. She’s a trooper x’

Rylan revealed in 2023 that his mother had a serious fall while they were in Marbella, requiring immediate surgery. They then returned home on a private plane.

Rylan shared some good news with her fans about her mother, saying she’s thankfully recovering well and everything is going smoothly. She thanked everyone for their kind messages.

She’s recovering nicely and is now happily chatting with a woman nearby. Thanks for all your well wishes!

Linda and her son have been popular on the Channel 4 show Gogglebox since 2019, but Linda’s illness meant they couldn’t be in the most recent season.

Rylan has also previously opened up about his mother’s battle with Crohn’s disease.

Linda has been living with Crohn’s disease since she was in her thirties. This condition causes inflammation in the digestive tract.

She frequently needs surgery to remove damaged sections of her intestine and relies on a lot of daily medication to manage her health.

Crohn’s disease is a long-term illness that impacts about 1 in 1,200 people in the UK. It causes inflammation in the digestive system, particularly the intestines.

It causes symptoms including diarrhoea, intense abdominal pain, weight loss and fatigue.

I was absolutely devastated to hear that Linda had to be hospitalized for six whole weeks back in 2017! It just broke my heart knowing she was struggling so much with Crohn’s disease. I was so worried about her during that time, and it really showed how strong she is to get through something like that.

Rylan previously explained that her existing health issues have made the situation more difficult.

In October, Rylan shared that Linda was feeling better and had been able to visit his home for the first time in two months, despite her ongoing health issues.

Linda also contracted sepsis in 2018, which almost killed her.

Rylan recently shared with the Daily Mail about his mother’s health struggles and how the illness has impacted her life.

He shared that his mother lost her job and her life is now completely controlled by her illness. He explained that the diagnosis was particularly difficult because it wasn’t detected soon enough.

It’s much easier to manage if detected early. I understand how frightening it is, as someone I was close to suffered from this life-threatening illness growing up.

Growing up, things were tough sometimes. My mom couldn’t always join school trips, and other times she felt so ashamed of being sick that I wasn’t allowed to have friends sleep over.
