The Traitors star Fiona helped save a woman who was trapped in sex work and the victim of domestic abuse as part of her role as a counsellor

Fiona Hughes, known for appearing on The Traitors, used her skills as a counsellor to help a woman escape sex work and a violent home life.

The 62-year-old Welsh television personality gained attention on the show by playing the mysterious Secret Traitor. This week, she had a heated disagreement with another Traitor, Rachel, and was ultimately voted out during the round table discussion.

Besides being on TV, Fiona works for Swansea Council as a support counselor, helping people who are struggling.

The council’s website shares the story of Alice, who was struggling with suicidal thoughts before receiving support from the organization and a staff member named Fiona.

She shared on the website that Fiona appeared at a time when she felt hopeless and believed no one could offer assistance. She was deeply ashamed and had lost her will to live.

‘I’ll always be grateful for the time she spent with me and thank her from the bottom of my heart.’

Alice experienced a difficult and abusive relationship that led to her being forced into sex work. Fortunately, Fiona encouraged her to seek help from a domestic abuse specialist and go back to school.

In 2018, Alice left her partner after experiencing abuse and returned to college. She and Fiona still keep in touch.

Fiona shared with The Sun that the woman is doing well now, having built a happy life with children and become a remarkable person.

I shouldn’t share the details, but it’s crucial to remember that many people struggle with feeling alone and helpless. A simple act of kindness and connection can make a huge difference in someone’s life.

After being unexpectedly removed from the castle on Friday’s show, Fiona finally spoke out on Saturday.

Oh my gosh, I was absolutely devastated when they voted out the contestant from Swansea! But honestly? When she revealed herself as a Traitor, the crowd went wild! It was such a shock, but everyone was cheering – it was insane! I knew she was playing a deep game, and seeing that twist unfold was just… everything.

Fiona was removed from the game after a heated argument with Rachel Duffy, another player secretly working against the group. Fiona publicly accused Rachel of being a Traitor, leading to her own elimination.

Honestly, it was such a stressful time. Looking back, I realize I was the one who really caused my own problems. I was my own worst enemy, and it’s tough to admit that, but it’s true.

‘But I suspected that when there was the end game I would be thrown under the bus.’

At the start of the game, Fiona was secretly assigned the role of a ‘lone Traitor’. Her job was to secretly choose potential victims, and the main Traitors had to select from her list to carry out the murders.

Let me tell you, when I stepped into the turret with Rachel and Stephen Libby, I immediately sensed something was off. It became clear pretty quickly that Rachel wasn’t really playing to win as a team – she seemed focused on her own game, and that raised a red flag for me.

Once Amanda Collier was sent away from the castle, Rachel shared a surprising secret: she used to be a detective with the city police force.

Fiona instantly believed Rachel wasn’t telling the truth, and she thought Amanda would have confirmed her suspicions, given Amanda’s many family members in law enforcement.

Fiona expressed her distrust to Rachel, telling her she believed Rachel was planning to eliminate both Stephen and herself. She then publicly accused Rachel of being a traitor in front of everyone.

She explained that she needed to talk to Rachel to confirm whether Rachel was a good team member or acting on her own.

Fiona saw Rachel as a strong competitor and believed Rachel would eventually target her, as she preferred to work independently.

Following Fiona’s removal from the competition, Stephen was visibly upset and cried, admitting he felt guilty for voting to eliminate her. He then said to the camera, ‘It’s just part of the game, I guess, having to send someone home like that.’

A triumphant Rachel added, ‘I won the battle, but I need to win the war.’

Suddenly, Matthew, Harriet, and Rachel got a chance to question the Traitors, with a catch: Rachel would be the one answering, not asking, the questions.

Matthew entered Ardross Castle Church, with the Traitors hidden in a wooden confession box.

He initially inquired about their next target and the reason behind it. They responded by writing down the name Jessie Roux and slipped the note through a letterbox to conceal who they were.

Okay, so after they finally answered, I just blurted out what needs to happen. I’m putting everything on the line here, completely vulnerable, and I desperately need them to prove they trust me. It’s a huge gamble, and I’m just hoping they understand that and meet me halfway. Seriously, it all comes down to trust now.

I have a feeling Claudia’s going to try and set you up with someone else soon, and when she does, please, please refuse. I need you to take care of Jessie instead. After that… well, after that, I’d like to be the one you seduce. Does that sound like something we can agree on?

Matthew betrayed his ally, and speaking to the camera, explained he wasn’t trying to be cruel. He didn’t want Jessie to be eliminated, but he was determined to play the game and would do what it took to win.

The episode concludes with the Traitors submitting their choices, but viewers won’t find out the results – or see Harriet’s questioning – until Wednesday, January 14th.

She saw Fiona and Rachel’s confrontation as a clash between two people willing to betray others, and it instantly made her distrust them both.

During the episode, Reece Ward was killed in a shocking turn of events, after experiencing a difficult few days. The Traitors justified their actions by calling it a ‘mercy killing’.

Reece’s time at the castle was difficult, and he narrowly avoided being banished the night before he was murdered. The vote to remove him was tied with Amanda’s, and ultimately, luck kept him safe.

The players each chose a chest, and the one who found the shield would be saved. Reece was very upset when he discovered he had the shield, which meant Amanda had to leave Ardross Castle.

Rachel became upset and admitted she felt like she’d betrayed someone, but explained that it deeply hurt her because this person was very special to her.

Thursday’s episode of The Traitors drew a large audience, averaging 7.35 million viewers, according to initial ratings.

The Traitors continues on January 14 at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
