Jennifer Lawrence shared that she originally wanted the role that launched Emma Stone’s career.
Emma Stone started with supporting roles in popular movies like Superbad and Zombieland, but she became a major Hollywood star with the 2010 comedy Easy A.
In 2010, Emma Stone starred in Easy A, the same year Jennifer Lawrence gained recognition with her critically acclaimed performance in Winter’s Bone, which earned Lawrence her first Academy Award nomination.
Two years after that, Jennifer Lawrence became a major Hollywood star thanks to her performance as Katniss Everdeen in the first Hunger Games film.
Despite a warm, long-standing friendship, 37-year-old Stone and 35-year-old Lawrence have also occasionally found themselves competing professionally, Lawrence recently shared.
Jennifer Lawrence revealed on Tuesday, during an interview at New York’s 92NY Kaufmann Concert Hall, that ‘Easy A’ was the movie she wished she had starred in, but another actress got the role, according to People magazine.

The actress, known for her role in American Hustle, jokingly said she was obsessed with the script for ‘Easy A’ and felt she should have been cast. She added that the film had the potential to be fantastic.
The movie Easy A is a humorous adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel, The Scarlet Letter. Emma Stone plays a witty high schooler who finds herself at the heart of a school scandal.
To avoid a camping trip, she fabricated a date with a college student and falsely claimed to have lost her virginity to him. This lie quickly became public at school, leading to widespread criticism and embarrassment.
Easy A was a huge success, both with audiences and critics, and it made Emma Stone a star.
Okay, so it was already a rough day. The SAG nominations dropped, and honestly, it just felt like history repeating itself. Emma Stone got nominated again, and while she’s amazing, it meant Jennifer Lawrence didn’t win this time. It’s just… frustrating to see it happen again, you know? I swear, they’re always pitting her against each other, and Emma always seems to come out on top. It just felt like a bad omen before her interview even started.
I was really hoping Jennifer Lawrence would get some recognition for her performance alongside Robert Pattinson in “Die My Love.” It’s such a darkly funny film, and she was amazing in it! It’s directed by Lynn Ramsay, who’s brilliant, and I’m a little disappointed she didn’t get the awards attention she deserved.
Despite everything, Stone did receive a nomination for her work in the thriller Bugonia, a new film she made with director Yorgos Lanthimos, whom she’s worked with frequently.
Jennifer Lawrence was chatting with her friends when she found out about the SAG Award nominations, and she wasn’t among them, she shared while speaking at an event at the 92nd Street Y.

Honestly, when I found out, my first reaction was just confusion – I literally wrote ‘What?’! Everyone around me immediately started congratulating me, which was sweet, but I couldn’t help but feel a little down about it all. It was a really funny moment looking back, but in the moment, I was just processing everything!
Whenever she’s attempted to speak today, I’ve kept asking her why she isn’t apologizing. I’ve been saying, essentially, if she’s able to talk, why isn’t she showing remorse?
She explained that her back-and-forth with Stone was all in good fun, saying, ‘She’s been playfully teasing me for years, and I actually enjoy it.’
Jennifer Lawrence has received four Academy Award nominations, winning once for her performance alongside Bradley Cooper in the film Silver Linings Playbook.
Sharon Stone has won two Academy Awards for Best Actress. She first received the honor for the musical La La Land, alongside Ryan Gosling, and later for her work in an earlier film by Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor Thing.

Two years ago, when Emma Stone won an award for Poor Things, she was briefly seen holding her trophy while chatting with her friend, Joaquin Phoenix, in the audience.
This year, both Stone and Lawrence have faced a lot of buzz about whether they’ll be nominated for Oscars for their latest films.
Despite not receiving a nomination at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Jennifer Lawrence has been recognized with nominations from the Golden Globes, the Gotham Awards, and other prestigious organizations.
Emma Stone has received numerous nominations for her performance in Bugonia, including recognition from the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Golden Globes, and the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. Though nominated, she didn’t win at the Critics’ Choice Awards, with Jessie Buckley taking home the award for Hamnet.
