Alan Carr recently opened up about his divorce, telling friend Amanda Holden on their show, Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job, that he felt taken advantage of in the past and now finds it hard to trust people.
The winner of The Traitors, age 49, and a 54-year-old media personality were spotted enjoying Aperol Spritzes in the sunshine. They were taking a break from work and chatting about how quickly time passes, and how they’ve both experienced divorce.
As someone who’s seen a lot of relationships come and go, I’ve learned it’s so important to be open about your past. Recently, I was chatting about my own experiences – including my four-year marriage – without naming anyone specifically, of course. It’s all about acknowledging where you’ve been to understand where you’re going, you know?
Amanda started the conversation by acknowledging she’d made mistakes in the past, and pointed out that both she and Alan had faced significant challenges, like divorce.
Alan shared, thinking about his past, that it wasn’t about making big decisions, but about finally recognizing his own value. He’d been taken advantage of and treated poorly too many times.
He admitted there were times he regretted not being more assertive. He wished he’d stood his ground and been a little stronger.
I was really struck by what the comedian shared – he said that building trust is honestly the hardest part for him when he meets someone new. It felt so relatable, and it was brave of him to admit that.
He admitted to Amanda that he struggles with trust. He explained that this is his biggest issue, and he knows he needs to take a chance and learn to trust people.
Alan and Paul were together for 14 years and married in 2018. The wedding took place at Adele’s home in Los Angeles, and she actually performed the ceremony!
However, their marriage broke down during lockdown, and they divorced in 2022.
The pair confirmed their split back in January 2022 with a joint statement.
After being together for 13 years, including 3 years of marriage, Alan Carr and Paul Drayton have announced they are getting a divorce.

Paul recently revealed on Instagram that he’s receiving treatment for alcohol addiction. This came after a difficult period that included a guilty plea for driving under the influence.
He shared that he voluntarily entered a rehabilitation program earlier this year to get treatment for his continuing health issues.
He announced with sadness that he and Alan have decided to get a divorce, sharing the news with a photo of a sunset and a heart.
This was a tough decision, but we’ve both decided to go our separate ways. We share many happy memories and will always care for each other as friends.
At the start of the new year, I took the initiative to enter a rehabilitation facility to get support and treatment as I navigate a difficult period in my life.
Making this decision wasn’t easy, but I’m confident it’s the best path forward. The past few years have been incredibly difficult, like they have for many people. However, I’m still fully dedicated to my recovery and building a stronger, healthier life.
We’re asking for privacy as we go through a difficult time, and we appreciate all the kindness and support we’ve received. Sending peace and love. He also shared that he’s focusing on sobriety, making tough but right choices, and looking forward to new beginnings.
Paul appeared in Brighton Magistrates Court a few years ago and admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol. He was four times the legal limit when he drove.
A judge cautioned him that he could be imprisoned, saying it was fortunate no one had been hurt.
Paul was arrested for driving under the influence after he backed his Mitsubishi 4×4 into a police car in West Sussex. The incident happened close to his home – a £2.7 million property he shares with Alan – and he almost hit a mother with a baby stroller.
