Although they’re moving to a vibrant city, this change represents a more low-key phase for the couple, who had a grand wedding in 2022.

Steve’s cricket commitments often take him abroad, but Dani has found a comfortable and private life in New York. This level of privacy is unusual for famous athletic couples in Australia.

Dani and Steve got engaged in New York City at the top of Rockefeller Center in 2017, and they married in 2018.

In 2022, the couple purchased an apartment in New York City and have been thoroughly enjoying life there ever since.

Dani shared with News Corp that she and Steve have long been fans of New York City and first considered purchasing property there in 2017.

‘And then we weren’t in any hurry, we just wanted to buy the right place.

New York City had a magnetic pull on us, and on top of that, it’s just a great place to live your life.

Australia will always feel like home. Even after living elsewhere, you’ve built a life there, so it’s a fundamental part of who you are. Right now, though, New York is where we live and work.

The couple loves living in the famous city and has frequently shared their adventures there on social media over the years.

After the ball-tampering incident in 2018, Smith stayed out of the public eye for a while, spending time with Willis in New York.

Willis described New York as having an amazing energy, explaining that it’s a place where people from all walks of life live and interact in a very close-knit environment.

After spending enough time somewhere, you become used to the chaos and stop being surprised by anything.

Everyone knows Smith hasn’t been hitting well lately, so his determined century against India at the Gabba last week was something Willis was really proud of.

He last scored a century – 110 runs without being dismissed – in the middle of 2023 at Lord’s, during a match against England.

‘I think you saw the determination on his face when he celebrated his 100,’ she said.

This clearly demonstrates his continued dedication to playing for Australia and his drive to score big runs. It’s something he’s always been completely committed to.

For the past year, people have been wondering if the star player might retire. However, his wife, Willis, says they prefer to focus on the present rather than planning too far into the future.

Willis explained that they prioritize enjoying the present, something he feels is crucial after doing this for so long.

I focus on the present and the upcoming tour, trying not to worry about the distant future. I prefer to take things one day, or one tour, at a time.

Honestly, it kills me when people start stressing about future tours or albums! Like, how can you possibly focus on right now, on giving the absolute best performance tonight, if you’re already six months down the line? That’s never been our approach. We just try to live in the moment, you know? It’s all about what’s happening now – that’s where the magic is!
