Pregnant singer Nicola Roberts announced on Instagram Friday that she has to leave her West End play because she needs surgery.
Girls Aloud singer, 40, is currently playing the goddess Persephone in the popular West End musical, Hadestown, which is being performed at the Lyric Theatre.
She recently announced that she has to have surgery and will therefore be unable to finish her last week of performances.
She shared on social media that while the decision was upsetting for her, it wasn’t something she could change.
Nicola shared some upsetting news in a heartfelt message, saying she was very sad and disappointed.
I found out today that I need a minor surgery, and unfortunately, that means I won’t be able to finish the last week of my performances in Hadestown.
I’m doing alright, but I’m really sad I won’t be able to perform with my amazing cast – I love them all. I’m also going to miss the wonderful Hadestown audiences I’ve gotten to know over the past five months. It’s been a privilege.
Honestly, playing Persephone has been everything I’ve ever wanted! It truly felt like a dream, and to have it cut short, to not even finish the last week and say a real goodbye… it’s just completely floored me. I’m so upset about it, I can’t even tell you.
‘I’m so sorry to anyone who had organised trips and tickets booked for my last week.
‘This is completely out of my control and really I have to listen to my doctors advice.’
The Daily Mail have contacted Nicola’s representatives for comment.
Nicola shared on Instagram that she and her fiancé, Mitch Hahn, are expecting their first child on Christmas Day.
She announced she was expecting a baby on Christmas Day with a beautiful photo of her growing belly on Instagram.
The hitmaker revealed she was five months pregnant and due to give birth in the spring.
Nicola shared that she and Mitch had a wonderful Christmas Day, celebrating some very special news with their families.
I’m so thrilled to finally share some amazing news! We’re expecting a baby! We found out five months ago and are absolutely over the moon. We can’t wait to meet our little one when spring arrives. It feels like a dream come true!
Nicola and her fiancé, a former soccer player, got engaged a year ago while on a romantic getaway in southern France.
Many of her celebrity friends left congratulatory comments, with Rochelle Humes among the first to share her well wishes.
She shared her excitement, writing, ‘The best news ever! Congratulations everyone!’ Singer Jessie Ware chimed in, adding, ‘Amazing! Congrats!’ with several heart emojis.
