Looking for a gripping thriller to kick off the new year? Netflix’s His & Hers is a great choice, and you can easily finish it in a weekend. Released on January 8th, 2026, this series is based on Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel and delivers the same level of drama and excitement as other popular Netflix originals. Following a year of thrilling releases in 2025 – including the chilling The Beast in Me and the suspenseful The Hunting Wives – Netflix is continuing the trend with promising new shows like His & Hers in 2026.
Netflix consistently delivers thrillers with compelling and well-developed characters, like the complex families featured in adaptations of Harlan Coben’s novels and the captivating killer in the series You. Joining Coben’s Run Away, which premiered on January 1st, His & Hers is one of Netflix’s most interesting recent additions.
Why You Don’t Want to Miss The New Netflix Thriller TV Series ‘His & Hers’
If you enjoy stories with well-developed characters and a captivating small-town mystery, you’ll likely be drawn to His & Hers. The series centers around Anna (Tessa Thompson) and Jack (Jon Bernthal), a married couple facing difficulties in their relationship. After a murder occurs in her hometown of Dahlonega, Anna—a former news anchor living in Atlanta—returns, forcing her to reconnect with Jack, who never left.
Similar to how The Beast in Me centers around the question of whether Nile killed his wife, His & Hers leads viewers to suspect that either Anna or Jack is a murderer. The show also hints that a major secret will be uncovered before the series ends. After all, a good thriller needs surprising twists and a satisfying conclusion to be truly successful.
The trailer for His & Hers immediately establishes a tense relationship between Anna and Jack. They share intense stares throughout, hinting at deep, unresolved emotions. During a press conference about a murder investigation, Anna, posing as a journalist, directly asks detective Jack if he knew the victim. When a colleague questions his reaction to her, Jack reveals she’s his wife. The suspicion goes both ways, as Anna insists to Jack that she wasn’t involved in the crime.
While many thrilling shows span multiple seasons, His & Hers demonstrates that a captivating story can also be told in just six episodes. The series features interesting supporting characters like news anchor Lexy (Rebecca Rittenhouse) and Zoe (Marin Ireland), who lives with Jack, but the real focus is on Anna and Jack themselves. Their relationship is what makes the show so compelling – if they were just a journalist and detective investigating a crime, it wouldn’t be nearly as engaging. Their shared history and deep understanding of each other create a dynamic that’s fun to watch. The show cleverly avoids the common detective drama trope of partners who dislike each other, offering a fresh and interesting take on the genre.

Seeing Jon Bernthal and Kristen Thompson together is a real highlight. Thompson has shown her talent in TV thrillers like Veronica Mars and Hidden Palms, while Bernthal has taken on a variety of roles, from the darkly funny The Bear to the intense The Walking Dead. He’s especially well-known for his portrayal of The Punisher, though. This adaptation of Alice Feeney’s novel needed strong leads, and Bernthal and Thompson are perfectly cast.
The series His & Hers delves into themes of love, marriage, and the complexities of guilt and innocence. With all six episodes currently available, you can binge-watch the complete story of Anna and Jack in a weekend.
