Whether you enjoy peacefully designing your ideal home on your own or sharing laughs with friends while fishing, Heartopia lets you experience a relaxing life simulation as a fun, shared adventure. It’s a great game to play solo, but playing with others adds a special sense of warmth, creativity, and makes the world feel more vibrant and alive.
Heartopia is different from most online games because it’s designed for relaxing and connecting with friends, not competing. There’s no rush, and you aren’t required to team up for anything. The game simply invites you to hang out with friends, explore each other’s worlds, share interests, and enjoy the experience at your own speed.
This guide covers everything you need to play Heartopia with friends! We’ll show you how to invite others and enjoy the co-op features together, making your Heartopia experience even better. How to Play Co-Op with Friends in Heartopia
Playing with others in Heartopia is designed to be easygoing, completely optional, and won’t add any pressure. Unlike some games where you can jump into multiplayer right away, Heartopia encourages you to get comfortable with the game first. This helps new players learn the ropes before teaming up, making the co-op experience much more fun for everyone.

Multiplayer isn’t available immediately after the game’s intro. You’ll first need to finish a few tutorial levels. These levels introduce you to Bob, an important character who shows you the basics of crafting and building. Completing these early quests will teach you how to play Heartopia.
Okay, so once I finally got my house built and settled in, the game opened up a whole new world! It unlocked something called the Friendship Journal, and that’s when the multiplayer stuff started happening. I could finally add friends, check out their towns, and do things with them, which is awesome.
How to add Friends in Heartopia
To play with others, you’ll first need to add friends. Heartopia has a straightforward process for doing this, but here are a few things to know to make it even easier and avoid any hiccups.
Okay, so first things first, you need to unlock the Friendship Journal. I remember getting it after finishing the initial tutorial and getting my house built – that’s how I did it! You absolutely need this unlocked because that’s where you manage everything friend-related, like adding people and dealing with invites. Once it’s unlocked, it’s always there whenever you want to use it!

Follow these steps to add friends in Heartopia:
- To add a friend, you need their UID (User ID).
- You can find your UID by opening the menu at the top left of the screen and clicking on your profile.
- Next, open the Friendship Journal and search for your friend using their UID.
- You will see a small “+” icon on their profile card. Tap this icon to send a friend request.
- Once your friend accepts the request, you will both appear in each other’s Friendship Journal.
- From there, you can freely visit each other as long as both players are online.
Keep in mind that sending a friend request uses one Star. Stars are a small in-game currency you mainly earn by completing quests. If you don’t have any Stars, you’ll need to finish a few quests first. Luckily, the person you’re sending the request to doesn’t have to spend anything.
One of the coolest things about playing online is running into other players! It’s so easy to connect with people – you can just check out their profile when you see them and send a friend request. It feels way more organic than those awkward times when games try to make you socialize. I love that it just happens naturally while I’m playing.
How to play with Friends in Heartopia
Once you’ve added friends, playing together in Heartopia is easy and fast. The game is designed to get you into shared adventures without any annoying obstacles. To join a friend’s world, simply open your Friendship Journal, find the friend you want to play with, and see if they’re currently online.
If my friend is online, all I have to do is tap the ‘Visit’ button and boom – I’m right in their Heartopia world! The best part is it doesn’t cost me any Stars or anything else. That’s when the real fun starts, because we can finally play together!
Heartopia lets you wander around town, stroll through gardens, and get ideas from how other players design their homes. Just exploring is a great reason to play with others, offering tons of decorating inspiration. But Heartopia also has plenty of activities you can enjoy together with friends, making them even more fun.

Playing with others makes Heartopia’s hobbies even better. Things like fishing become more relaxing when you share the experience and celebrate great catches together. And activities like bird watching and bug catching are more enjoyable when you compete or team up to find rare species. Since these hobbies are central to the game, sharing them with friends truly enhances the whole experience.
Co-op play also adds a fun photography element to the game. When you team up with friends, you gain access to unique poses and emotes, letting you capture awesome and memorable screenshots together. These shared moments feel much more special than playing solo.
Exploring is even better with friends! You’ll find rare plants, special items, and secret places on the map much faster when you travel together. But more than that, it transforms exploration from a lone activity into a fun, shared experience.
