Dax Shepard shared that his 11-year-old daughter, Delta, is eager to become a mom someday. She’s even suggested saving her eggs to help make that happen, and offered to cover the cost herself!
Dax Shepard, 51, recently discussed his youngest daughter’s wish to have children on his podcast, Armchair Expert. This came after Cher publicly criticized him.
Shepard, who already shares a 12-year-old daughter named Lincoln with Bell, mentioned that Delty was excitedly anticipating having a baby.
People were surprised when he shared his belief that his youngest child will make a wonderful mother.
The actor explained that their family’s life often feels like a traveling circus because of their daughter Delty’s many stuffed animals. Most of their luggage consists of her toys.
Shepard confessed that his initial reaction when his daughter, Delta, told him she wanted to become a mother was to avoid appearing critical or judgmental.
He shared that she’s expressed a desire to have a baby. He responded by jokingly asking when she envisioned having her first child, suggesting maybe when she turned eighteen. He emphasized that he wants to be supportive of her decisions, whatever they may be.
‘I don’t want to plant any seeds that I’d be judgmental or whatever.’
You know, as a parent myself, it’s always fascinating to think about your kids’ futures. I always assumed my youngest would want a baby young, maybe around 18, but I was way off! She actually envisions having children much later in life, somewhere between 35 and 45, which is fantastic to hear. It just goes to show you, you can never really predict what your children will want.
He then offered to help her with anything she needed, explaining that he’d previously told her, “If you want, we can freeze your eggs when you turn eighteen, and I’ll cover the cost so you don’t have to worry about it.”
He also told Delta that while he recognizes many people aren’t in a position to do so due to circumstances beyond their control, he believes this is the most logical path forward.
They’ll likely face the same challenge many women do: balancing a successful career with other priorities. It’s something almost every woman wants to achieve.
He acknowledged that his daughter felt he was too old to become a father.
Shepard said: ‘Again, she’s 11 so that probably seems like 80. She’s thinking mid-20s.’
This happened several months after Bell, his wife, received criticism from those who support victims of domestic violence. She had shared a troubling post on Instagram for their anniversary, quoting her husband, Dax Shepard, saying he was ‘strongly motivated to end her life.’
The upsetting message, posted in October to celebrate their twelfth wedding anniversary, immediately caused widespread anger online.
The Frozen star celebrated her 12th wedding anniversary by sharing a memorable quote from her husband. He once jokingly told her, ‘I would never kill you. Sadly, a lot of men have, but even with a strong motive, I wouldn’t,’ she recalled.
The post quickly drew criticism online, with many survivors and organizations working to prevent domestic violence calling it insensitive and poorly timed, especially since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Bell hasn’t responded publicly to the criticism, and she also didn’t take down the original post. She also cancelled her planned interview on the Today show shortly after it caused controversy.
The Daily Mail has repeatedly contacted Bell’s representatives for comment, but they haven’t responded yet.
Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell first met in 2004 at a birthday party for a mutual friend. However, Bell has said she wasn’t immediately smitten with him.
She remembered thinking the host of Punk’d was very talkative when they met. During a June 2024 interview on SiriusXM with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson, she said they just didn’t click that night.
I remember hearing how they met – it was three years after they first knew each other, at a hockey game. Apparently, things got pretty intense right away, all because of something totally unexpected and a little…well, let’s just say it involved a rather daring and unhygienic gesture! It was a crazy way to start, but clearly, it worked!
Bell recounted how a man asked her for gum. She initially refused, playfully taking it out of her mouth, but he took it from her, saying, ‘I’ll take it.’ After he put the gum in his mouth, Bell realized she was attracted to him, and quickly became infatuated.
Let me tell you, relationships aren’t always smooth sailing! With my clients, I often see hesitation creep in, and it was the same with my friend Shepard. He actually ended things briefly, got cold feet, if you will. But thankfully, it didn’t last. Just four days later, he realized he’d made a huge mistake and reached out to fix things. It just goes to show, even when things seem over, there’s often room for a second chance.
Now, they’re one of the most open and honest couples in Hollywood, famous for talking frankly about things like going to therapy, raising kids, and what it’s like to be married.
Bell has also gushed that every new discovery about Shepard ‘leaves [her] more and more impressed.’
She described him as incredibly protective and loyal, always eager to learn and explore new ideas. He’s someone who pushes himself and isn’t afraid to be critical of his own work.
Bell and Shepard got married in 2013. Bell proposed to Shepard again, and they had a simple wedding ceremony at a courthouse in Beverly Hills.
