Johnny Knoxville, the face of the group and one of its creators, surprised fans with an announcement: a new movie is coming out this summer. He shared the group’s logo and the release date, June 26th, on social media.

The last Jackass film, Jackass Forever, came out in early 2022. It had been twelve years since the previous one, Jackass 3D, which was released in 2010. However, Jackass Forever received some of the best reviews of the group’s 25+ year history of performing painful stunts and pranks, and earned $80 million in theaters as people were beginning to return to cinemas after the pandemic.

The fourth movie was a turning point for the series, as it was the first one made without Ryan Dunn, who sadly passed away in 2011, and Bam Margera, who was removed from the project during filming. It also introduced new cast members like Rachel Wolfson, Zach Holmes, and Sean “Poopies” McInerney. Whether these new additions will return for future films is still unknown.

The television series Jackass first aired on MTV in October 2000. After gaining popularity over several seasons, it transitioned to the big screen with Jackass: The Movie in 2002. The franchise, including four main films and the spin-off Bad Grandpa (featuring Johnny Knoxville in disguise), has earned over $570 million worldwide so far.

Jackass 5 (or whatever it winds up getting called officially) premieres in theaters on June 26.
