Aimee Lou Wood is congratulated by Sex Education co-star Gillian Anderson as she bags Outstanding Performance nomination at SAG Awards

Aimee Lou Wood received a SAG Award nomination, and her Sex Education colleague Gillian Anderson publicly congratulated her.

The 31-year-old actress has received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series at this year’s Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards.

Aimee received the nod for her portrayal of Chelsea in the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus.

She first gained widespread recognition in 2019 playing Aimee Gibbs in the Netflix series Sex Education, alongside Gillian Anderson, known for The X-Files.

Gillian posted a series of photos on Instagram on Wednesday, honoring her former colleague, Aimee.

‘So proud and happy for you @aimeelouwood, congrats on your @actorawards nom!!’ she wrote. 

I’m so excited for Aimee! She’s been nominated for an award and will be competing against her White Lotus co-star, Parker Posey, at the ceremony in March. I’m really hoping she wins!

Britt Lower from Severance, Keri Russell from The Diplomat, and Rhea Seehorn from Pluribus are also included in this category.

Janelle James from Abbott Elementary and Connor Storrie from Heated Rivalry revealed the nominees for the 32nd annual awards on the Netflix YouTube channel, following opening remarks from SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin.

The Actor Awards will be held in Los Angeles on March 1st and will be broadcast live on Netflix. While a host for the 2026 ceremony hasn’t been named yet, Kristen Bell hosted the event last year.

Harrison Ford will receive the 2026 SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award.

The Actor Awards, voted on by the over 160,000 members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, offer a good indication of how actors – the largest group within the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – are likely to vote during awards season.

On November 14, 2025, the awards show recognizing excellent performances in movies and TV officially changed its name from the Screen Actors Guild Awards to simply the Actor Awards.

The celebration will remain largely unchanged, and the award statuette will still be called The Actor.

Aimee’s nomination comes after she revealed the heartbreaking reason they’ve parted ways.

Aimee has publicly shared her struggles with several mental health challenges. These include bulimia during her teenage years, body image issues, social anxiety, and a recent ADHD diagnosis.

On this week’s Breaking Beauty podcast, make-up artist Emily, 28, explained that she no longer does make-up for Aimee. She said it’s a delicate subject because they both have a history of mental health challenges and decided to step back from that part of their relationship years ago.

People who are highly sensitive and aware of their surroundings often feel even more so at work, as they’re seen and judged differently by others.

Both Aimee and I have complex PTSD, which means we need a higher level of safety and security than most people to feel comfortable and secure.

I remember us working closely together, and I was probably a bit overprotective, constantly checking in on her. She just needed to focus on getting through each day.

‘It was just too much for us.’

She explained that they felt it was important to protect their close bond and maintain healthy boundaries within the group.

‘We needed to grow up and mature and it was actually the best thing we ever did.’

Emily used to do Aimee’s makeup professionally all the time, but she recently did it again for a one-time project.

I worked on Burberry’s campaign with her earlier this year. She made it clear that I was the right person for the job, and the shoot was a lot of fun.

Aimee was born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, and grew up with Emily in Bramhall. 

Their mother, charity worker Alison, is divorced from their father, car dealer Mike, 66.
