Tangled live-action remake has found its Rapunzel and Flynn

Disney has cast the lead actors for its upcoming live-action version of the popular 2010 animated film, Tangled.

The upcoming live-action movie will be directed by Michael Gracey, known for his work on musical films like Better Man and The Greatest Showman. Teagan Croft, from Titans, will play Rapunzel, and Milo Manheim, a star from Disney Channel, will play Flynn Rider, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the animated movie, Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi originally provided the voices for Rapunzel and Flynn.

After the official announcement, Rick Hoffman—known for his role in Eli Roth’s horror film Thanksgiving—shared the news with his fans on Instagram.

He shared a photo of himself alongside the animated character Flynn, simply writing, “Too grateful for words.”

He also wrote that he would make sure the person was treated fairly, and included a fried egg and chameleon emoji, referencing the animated movie.

Croft is yet to comment on the announcement.

Kristin Burr, known for producing films like Freakier Friday and the 2021 live-action Cruella, is producing the new movie. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who both wrote and directed Do Revenge and the recent I Know What You Did Last Summer, wrote the screenplay.

Disney’s newest movie, Zootropolis 2, is currently performing well. It’s a follow-up to the 2016 film featuring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman.

The movie sequel was a huge success, reaching $1 billion in worldwide box office sales only 17 days after it came out in December 2025.

Jared Bush, writer and co-director of Zootropolis 2, shared that the entire Disney Animation team poured their hearts and passion into creating a film brimming with joy, creativity, and meaningful themes.

The Tangled live-action adaptation doesn’t have a release date yet.
