Beyonce’s mom reveals bizarre reason for granddaughter Blue Ivy’s name as ‘world’s greatest’ nepo baby turns 14

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, used Instagram on Wednesday to celebrate her granddaughter Blue Ivy’s 14th birthday.

Tina Knowles, age 72, made a special photo collection showing her granddaughter growing up, with a picture from each year of her life. Beyoncé and Solange Knowles are her daughters.

I always love when people share the stories behind their choices, and this one is particularly sweet! A follower recently shared why she named her pet Blue, and it was such a touching explanation. She wrote a really lovely, detailed caption along with a photo, and the reason was truly unique – it really stuck with me!

Knowles shared the story behind the teenager’s name, recalling the joy they felt when they learned her mother was pregnant. She wrote about how incredibly excited they were that day.

‘We were told that you were the size of a blueberry and that is where your name came from!’

We all prayed for you every day while you were developing in your mom’s womb, up until 12 weeks. After that, we continued praying for you individually until you were born months later.

Knowles also wrote about Blue, noting that she was a determined and precocious child. He remembered her being a very early talker and incredibly bright.

She remembered how they used to spend hours playing with Princess and Barbie dolls, and how imaginative he always was.

Wrapping up the message, she said: ‘To say that I’m a proud grandmother is an understatement!

Despite everything you’ve achieved, you’re still such a genuinely kind and humble person. ❤️ Happy Birthday to my manager, makeup artist, fashion advisor, and my love! ❤️

The post has so far collected more than 100,000 likes.

Kandi Burruss, a singer and star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, wished them a happy birthday in a comment.

Blue’s dad is 56-year-old rapper and business mogul Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter.

The Brooklyn-bred music artist and Texas-born pop star Beyoncé married in 2008.

In addition to Blue they share eight-year-old fraternal twins Rumi and Sir.

Blue has already begun to follow in her parents’ footsteps in entertainment.

She gained attention for her dancing while performing on Beyoncé’s recent Renaissance and Cowboy Carter tour dates.

In 2024, she shared the stage with a former member of Destiny’s Child during the NFL halftime show on Netflix, which aired on Christmas Day.

She also provided the voice for Princess Kiara in Disney’s 2024 movie, Mufasa: The Lion King.

Beyoncé told GQ in 2024 that her daughter, Blue, is a talented artist with a good eye for music and style. She also described Blue as skilled in editing, painting, and acting.

She’s been making up characters for as long as she can remember – she has a real talent for it. However, I didn’t think it was a good idea for Blue to perform. She was determined to do it herself.

The singer shared that her oldest child was very dedicated and truly deserved her success. Above all, she was enjoying herself! It was wonderful to see her confidence and talent blossom with each performance.
