Even with the marketing now underway, it’s easy to feel like “Avengers: Doomsday” is still a long way off – it doesn’t come out until December 18th, which is almost a year from now. That gives us plenty of time to get ready for the movie and watch all four trailers.
It’s become common for fans to rewatch the Marvel Cinematic Universe films – either the whole series or just the most important ones – before a new Avengers movie or other big Marvel event. While Avengers: Secret Wars might mark a true ending to a chapter of Marvel films, the story really starts to wrap up with Doomsday.
If you’re planning to revisit the Marvel movies, now’s a great time! With the return of familiar faces from the original X-Men films, you’ll want to include those movies in your watch list too. If you want to catch up on everything before Doomsday arrives, you should start watching soon.
Watching At Least One Marvel Movie A Week From Right Now Will Help You Finish Before Avengers: Doomsday’s Release

December 18th might seem distant, but it’s only 49 weeks away. Plus, there are plenty of movies to watch before then, leading up to the release of Doomsday.
You can definitely create your own list of Marvel movies to rewatch, skipping anything that doesn’t feel essential to the overall story of Doomsday. However, if you try to watch every Marvel movie, you’ll find yourself needing to watch at least one per week, starting immediately!
As of today, Marvel Studios has released 37 films, with a 38th, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, coming out before the next big movie, Doom. If you want to rewatch all the Marvel movies, you have some flexibility – starting in late March and watching one film per week will get you caught up just in time.
There are at least four X-Men films that are definitely worth watching: X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. These movies bring back familiar faces like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, and Kelsey Grammer.
Now there are 42 Marvel movies to watch, and I think we could easily add five more. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine films are all great, and Logan is particularly important given its connection to the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. Plus, it’s worth rewatching Ryan Reynolds’ first two Deadpool movies.
That’s 47 movies already, and there are even more that could be included. If Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man were to appear in Doomsday, it would be a shame to leave out his original Spider-Man trilogy. Plus, he was already in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Considering that, you could also argue that Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man films are relevant as well.
This means there are now 52 Marvel movies worth watching, which is more than one per week.
If you’re interested in watching all the Marvel movies connected to Doomsday and the films that came before it, you could include Wesley Snipes’ Blade trilogy, the Fantastic Four movies starring Chris Evans, Daredevil and Elektra with Jennifer Garner, and the other three X-Men prequels. That would bring the total number of Marvel films to 62.
This doesn’t even include all the Marvel TV shows, like the old Netflix series Daredevil, the Disney+ originals like WandaVision, or animated stories like What If…?. The bottom line is, if you’re planning to watch a lot of Marvel movies before Avengers: Doomsday, you should start now instead of waiting.
