Okay, so Stranger Things is officially over! It’s been ten years since the first season dropped on Netflix, and after five seasons, that final two-hour episode was… intense. In the final episode, Eleven appeared to die while bravely sacrificing herself to save others.

But at the end of the episode, Mike shares his belief that Eleven isn’t actually gone. He tells everyone she escaped and is now in a safe, peaceful place, far away.

But is Mike’s version of events the truth or just what he wants to believe?

Like many people online, Sadie Sink, who stars in Stranger Things, recently shared her thoughts while on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

“I think she’s dead. I don’t know. Is that a hot take or something?” she told the host.

The actor explained that Mike’s story feels like a final chapter, marking the end of childhood – a last tale before growing up.

Sink explained that she believed it was simply a way of dealing with the situation. When Fallon suggested it felt like a definitive conclusion, Sink agreed, saying, “That’s how I see it too. I apologize if that’s not how others view it.”

The Duffer Brothers, who created the show, have left the ending open to interpretation, suggesting it’s up to the audience to decide what they think happened to Eleven, according to Netflix Tudum.

Ross Duffer said that she remains in their memories, leaving open the question of whether that presence is genuine or not – it’s up to the audience to interpret.

You can watch seasons 1 through 4 of Stranger Things on Netflix. A fifth and final season is currently being made. Plus, a stage play called Stranger Things: The First Shadow is playing at the Phoenix Theatre in London and tickets are available until September 7, 2025.
