Morrissey is forced to cancel his first two gigs of 2026 at the last minute after suffering an ‘adverse reaction to prescription medication’ – weeks after shelving South American tour dates

Morrissey had to cancel additional concerts because he experienced a negative reaction to his medication.

The mysterious singer was set to perform at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California on January 3rd, and then again at the San Diego Civic Theatre on Tuesday evening.

Unfortunately, both shows were cancelled because of illness, following Morrissey’s decision just two months prior to postpone several South American concerts due to feeling extremely tired.

Agua Caliente Casino announced the cancellation of an event and promised fans they are working to reschedule it.

Morrissey’s concert on January 3, 2026, has been postponed because of a bad reaction to medicine.

Keep your tickets – they’ll be valid for the new date. If you’d prefer a refund, please get in touch with whoever you originally bought them from.

The Civic Theatre also announced the cancellation of the Morrissey concert scheduled for January 6th in San Diego. They stated on their Instagram page that refunds are being offered through the original ticket seller.

Fans reacting to the singer’s recent cancellations said they weren’t shocked, with one person pointing out that he had cancelled performances last year as well.

Someone else commented that the cancellation of rescheduled shows was typical behavior for Morrissey, and they weren’t surprised, predicting it would happen.

Elsewhere, a third wrote: ‘Disappointed but not surprised.’

While a fourth quipped: ‘As expected.’

Morrissey had planned a tour of South America, with shows scheduled in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Santiago, Lima, and Bogota between November 8th and November 22nd.

However, the venues later informed ticket-holders of his decision to axe the shows.

Morrissey has cancelled his Latin American tour, including his November 8th concert in Buenos Aires at the Movistar Arena, due to the artist’s extreme fatigue, according to a statement from the venue.

Days earlier, Morrissey cancelled two concerts in Mexico, citing the same reason.

He had concerts scheduled for October 31st at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City and at Auditorio Telmex in Zapopan, but both were unexpectedly canceled right before they were supposed to happen.

OCESA, the concert promoter, announced the cancellation of Morrissey’s Mexico City and Guadalajara shows on the day of the Mexico City performance. They stated that the cancellations, for October 31st at Palacio de los Deportes and November 4th at Auditorio Telmex, were due to the artist’s severe exhaustion.

After the concert promoter cancelled his shows, Morrissey shared a video for his song “I Know It’s Gonna Happen Someday” on his website last Saturday. The post included the song title and several Mexican flag emojis.

Morrissey cancelled his concerts in Turkey in October after facing criticism for his pro-Israel stance.

Tickets for the December concerts were pulled after a video from a 2012 performance in Tel Aviv surfaced online. The video showed the artist performing while wrapped in an Israeli flag, and it quickly went viral.

In September, the singer cancelled shows in Connecticut and Boston after receiving a serious and believable threat of being attacked on stage.

A recent post on Morrissey’s official Facebook page stated that there was a credible threat to his life.
