Mickey Rourke Denounces GoFundMe Campaign Set Up to Stop His Eviction

A strange situation has unfolded involving Mickey Rourke. The actor, known for his Oscar nomination, has strongly criticized a GoFundMe page created by someone on his team. This person claimed they had Rourke’s approval to raise money to help him avoid eviction. Reports surfaced that Rourke received an eviction notice in December due to owing $59,100 in back rent. However, the 73-year-old actor has publicly stated he doesn’t want or need charity and was not involved in creating the fundraiser.

In a video posted to Instagram Monday night, actor Eddie Rourke expressed his frustration and confusion about a charity or fund that someone created in his name. Addressing his nearly 500,000 followers, Rourke stated he had no knowledge of, nor desire for, such a charity, emphasizing he would never ask for donations. He strongly asserted he’d prefer an extreme alternative to accepting charity.

In a video with his dog Lucky, Rourke described the situation as both “embarrassing” and “humiliating.” He acknowledged having difficulties with his career and finances, but said he would never ask people for money. He promised to work with his lawyer, Bill Sobel, to investigate the issue and make sure any donations made through the GoFundMe page are returned to the donors.
