Married At First Sight star Cameron Merchant shares his gruesome injury while fishing with son: ‘I’m in shock’

Cameron Merchant has shared the horrific injury he suffered while fishing with his young son.

A 42-year-old reality TV star from Married At First Sight shared a shocking video online this week showing a fishing hook piercing his eyelid.

The hook was painfully latched in his skin, but Cameron was surprisingly calm about the mishap.

‘Do you want a fishing story that you just can’t make up?’ Cameron asked in the clip.

I reeled in my line, and it felt like something had definitely hooked on… though it turned out to be my own eyelid! He laughed, making a joke about it.

The reality star gently took the hook out of his eye and then rubbed it.

He playfully asked his followers for fishing advice, then explained it was his first time taking his five-year-old son, Ollie, fishing.

Cameron joked in his post that Ollie’s first fishing trip might also be his last, adding with humor, ‘Everyone’s having fun until someone loses an eyelid!’

We didn’t have any luck fishing, and I got sunburned – my hands even smell like shrimp! But honestly, moments like these are what really strengthen the bond between a father and son.

Cameron’s fans were stunned, with several sharing their thoughts in the comments section.

‘OMG mate!! I’d say nice catch, but is it early for jokes…? Hope you’re okay,’ one person said.

Seriously, seeing that happen, I can’t believe how chill they were! I would have been a complete mess, totally losing it! And honestly, it was insane, but also… kinda funny? So glad everything turned out alright, though. I’m just obsessed with how they handled it all!

‘OMG Cam. So glad your eyeball and eyelid are okay. I’m in shock,’ someone else commented.

This follows a touching message written by Cameron’s wife, Jules Robinson, who also appears on Married At First Sight, about her husband.

The mom shared on social media how grateful she was for the former cricket player’s unwavering support.

‘We’re two individuals with our own dreams, but when it counts… we’re a team,’ Jules wrote.

The 43-year-old revealed he is the ultimate behind-the-scenes support act.

He takes care of all the little things – like ironing my suit with a towel, practicing my presentation with me while I’m getting ready, and offering encouragement from behind the scenes.

True partnership isn’t about obligation, it’s about genuine support. Find someone who cheers you on during your successes and offers comfort during quieter moments.

As a lifestyle expert, I truly believe it’s the little moments that matter most, and I’m soaking up every single one with my loved ones. Seeing them grow and achieve their goals fills me with so much pride, and I cherish the chance to support them – just as much as I appreciate their support in return. It’s a beautiful cycle of mutual encouragement!

After meeting on Married at First Sight in 2019, the couple quickly fell in love, got married that same year, and have continued to build a strong relationship ever since.

They have two children, sons Ollie, five, and Carter, one.
