Paris Jackson reflects on sobriety ahead of sixth anniversary free from drugs and alcohol

Paris Jackson, the only daughter of the late Michael Jackson, has been sharing her experiences with staying sober, marking almost six years without using drugs or alcohol.

A 27-year-old with a large social media following—and famous parents—shared on Saturday that getting sober doesn’t automatically fix all of life’s problems.

Things became incredibly difficult for a long time, and I felt unprepared to deal with it. I had to accept life as it was and learn to adjust.

Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, known as Jackson, revealed she battles with serious depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and complex PTSD, all linked to years of harassment by the paparazzi.

The socialite, originally from Beverly Hills, expressed her frustration with severe depression that hasn’t responded to treatment, as well as complex post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, calling them all incredibly difficult to deal with.

If you’re going through a difficult time, please know you’re not the only one. Stay strong, and if you haven’t heard it today, I want you to know that I love you.

According to Page Six, Paris Jackson received treatment for substance abuse and after attempting suicide multiple times while living at Diamond Ranch Academy in Utah between the ages of 15 and 16.

On Saturday, an ambassador for the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation shared a glimpse of her pets – three cats and two dogs – on Instagram Stories, playfully noting that being single allows her to adopt as many animals as she desires.

Paris Jackson is currently suing the people managing her late father’s estate – John Branca and John McClain – alleging they took $148.2 million improperly by 2021. The next court date in the case is January 13th.

The young woman, who has many tattoos, has also spoken out against the official Michael Jackson biopic produced by Lionsgate, which features her cousin Jaafar Jackson in the lead role.

Last August, Jackson criticized Antoine Fuqua’s two-part film – which cost $155 million to make and was released in the US and UK on April 24th – saying it contained many inaccuracies and outright falsehoods.

A musician who jokingly calls himself an average Thom Yorke imitator will be featured in the documentary Michael Jackson: A Celebration, coming to US cinemas in June.

Jackson has several acting projects on the horizon, including the dramas One Spoon of Chocolate directed by RZA and Street Smart by Catherine Hardwicke, the horror thriller Open Wounds from Ronald Krauss, and the comedies Skinemax directed by Adam Sigal and Toad by Adam Rifkin.
