Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner cozy up as they make very late arrival to 2026 Critics Choice Awards

Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner proved they’re still going strong when they arrived fashionably late to the 2026 Critics Choice Awards on Sunday.

The popular 30-year-old actor and the 28-year-old beauty entrepreneur arrived about 90 minutes late to the event, which was already underway at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Timothée and Kylie once again coordinated their outfits, but this time they chose a more timeless and elegant look instead of the bright colors they wore to the Marty Supreme premiere last month.

They’ve been looking very affectionate recently, and it seems their relationship is heating up, as they’ve started sharing glimpses of it on social media after previously keeping it private.

Chelsea Handler is hosting the Critics’ Choice Awards for the fourth year in a row. The glamorous event, held at the Barker Hangar, is known for predicting the frontrunners for major awards throughout awards season.

The Critics Choice Awards are well-known in Hollywood for reliably predicting the winners of the Oscars.

Last season proved how well Anora can predict success. Despite not winning any awards at the Golden Globes or SAG Awards, its win at the Critics Choice Awards for Best Picture gave it a significant boost. This momentum continued, ultimately leading to success at the Academy Awards.

Adrien Brody, Kieran Culkin, and Zoe Saldaña all won Oscars, mirroring their earlier wins at the Critics Choice Awards.

Since the Golden Globes aren’t on TV until January 11th, the Critics Choice Awards will be the first big awards show of 2026. This gives movie and TV studios, and the projects hoping to win awards, an important early advantage.

Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association, described the awards as a way to honor the best movies and TV shows. He also noted that the organization’s voters play a key role in helping viewers discover truly exceptional stories each year.

Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ is the frontrunner this year, receiving an impressive 17 nominations for both films and TV shows. This is just one less than the record-breaking 18 nominations ‘Barbie’ received in 2024.

Following closely behind are the productions ‘One Battle After Another’ with 14 nominations, and both ‘Hamnet’ and ‘Frankenstein’ with 11 each.

Besides these frontrunners, other notable entries are Marty Supreme, Wicked: For Good, Sentimental Value, Train Dreams, Jay Kelly, and Bugonia.

This year’s Best Actor category is incredibly competitive, featuring strong performances from Timothée Chalamet in “Marty Supreme,” Leonardo DiCaprio in “One Battle After Another,” Joel Edgerton in “Train Dreams,” Ethan Hawke in “Blue Moon,” Michael B. Jordan in “Sinners,” and Wagner Moura in “The Secret Agent.”

Oh my gosh, the Best Actress nominees are incredible this year! I’m seriously obsessed with Jessie Buckley in ‘Hamnet,’ but Rose Byrne’s performance in ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ has been haunting me. And Chase Infiniti in ‘One Battle After Another’? Total powerhouse. Then you’ve got Renate Reinsve giving such a nuanced performance in ‘Sentimental Value,’ and Amanda Seyfried absolutely killing it as Ann Lee. But honestly? I’m already predicting a win for Emma Stone in ‘Bugonia’ – she’s just phenomenal. I need to watch them all again, immediately!

The nominees for Best Supporting Actor are Benicio Del Toro for One Battle After Another, Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein, Paul Mescal for Hamnet, Sean Penn for One Battle After Another, Adam Sandler for Jay Kelly, and Stellan Skarsgård for Sentimental Value.

I’m so excited for the Best Supporting Actress category this year! Elle Fanning is nominated for her work in ‘Sentimental Value,’ and I was thrilled to see Ariana Grande recognized for ‘Wicked: For Good’! Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas also deserves recognition for ‘Sentimental Value’, as do Amy Madigan in ‘Weapons,’ Wunmi Mosaku for ‘Sinners,’ and Teyana Taylor’s powerful performance in ‘One Battle After Another.’ It’s such a strong group of nominees!

On the television side, the acting races are just as competitive.

The leading actors nominated for best drama series include Sterling K. Brown for Paradise, Adam Scott for Severance, Diego Luna for Andor, Billy Bob Thornton for Landman, and Keri Russell for The Diplomat. Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us) and Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age) also delivered notable performances.

The comedy acting nominations include well-known stars and rising talents, featuring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell for Nobody Wants This, Ted Danson for A Man on the Inside, Jean Smart for Hacks, Danny McBride for The Righteous Gemstones, and Seth Rogen for The Studio.

The leading contenders for limited series and TV movie awards include Stephen Graham for ‘Adolescence’, Brian Tyree Henry for ‘Dope Thief’, Charlie Hunnam for ‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story’, Sarah Snook for ‘All Her Fault’, Michelle Williams for ‘Dying for Sex’, and Renée Zellweger for ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’.

Several actors delivered exceptional performances in supporting roles, including Tramell Tillman from Severance, Billy Crudup from The Morning Show, Allison Janney from The Diplomat, Hannah Einbinder from Hacks, Janelle James from Abbott Elementary, Julianne Moore from Sirens, and Nick Offerman from Death by Lightning.

On television, “Adolescence” is the frontrunner with six nominations, while “Nobody Wants This” is a close second with five.

Popular titles such as The Diplomat, Hacks, The Pitt, All Her Fault, and Ghosts also performed very well.

Major film and TV studios are fiercely competing for recognition, with Warner Bros. receiving the most film nominations and Netflix taking the lead in television nominations.

This year’s event will feature four new awards: Best Variety Series, outstanding Casting, innovative Stunt Design, and exceptional Sound work.

On the red carpet, expect a parade of A-listers.

Stars like Timothée Chalamet, Emma Stone, and Ariana Grande are anticipated to be at the ceremony, along with presenters such as Colman Domingo, Regina Hall, Diego Luna, Allison Janney, Kaley Cuoco, Ava DuVernay, Bradley Whitford, and Billy Bob Thornton.

The Critics Choice Awards began in 1995, created by the Broadcast Film Critics Association. This group started as a small collection of about 60 film journalists who wanted to celebrate outstanding movies.

The organization grew to also cover television and streaming content, and many of its previous winners – including films like La La Land, Nomadland, and Everything Everywhere All at Once – have gone on to win Academy Awards.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen so many events transform over the years, but this one really stands out! It started as a small get-together for people in the industry, and now? It’s become a huge red-carpet affair at the Barker Hangar, with hundreds of celebrities and fans all excited to see who takes home the first big awards of the season. It’s a fantastic night!

The 31st Critics Choice Awards also represent Jo Koy’s return to E! – the network where he hosted his talk show for eight years.

The show has had different hosts each year recently. Taye Diggs hosted from 2019 to 2021, and in 2022, he co-hosted with Nicole Byer.

The show has previously been hosted by a variety of talented individuals, including Olivia Munn, T.J. Miller, Michael Strahan, Aisha Tyler, Kristin Chenoweth, and D.L. Hughley.

Actor Eric McCormack served as the ceremony’s first-ever host in 2005.

The Critics Choice Awards will be broadcast live on USA Network and E! on Sunday, January 4th, starting at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. This marks the 31st year of the awards show.
