The first Monday Night Raw of 2026 will be a major event for WWE, celebrating the anniversary of their successful streaming deal. The show will include appearances from the cast of Stranger Things (which you can also watch on Netflix), several championship matches, and, after hearing Adam Pearce talk it up, I now believe Chris Jericho will be making his return.
The General Manager followed his typical pattern of building hype for the next show, but he said something that really caught the attention of wrestling fans. This happened near the beginning of the video, immediately after he mentioned Liv Morgan returning to compete as a singles wrestler. He said:
Tonight’s Raw is live from Brooklyn, New York, and we’re celebrating one year of being on Netflix with a huge show! We’ve got some exciting matches lined up, starting with Liv Morgan returning to singles competition against Lyra Valkyria for the first time in six months. Plus, don’t miss three major championship matches – who will win and take home the gold?
The phrase “Break down the walls” strongly suggests a possible return for wrestler Chris Jericho to WWE. Jericho is famous for his finishing move, the “Walls of Jericho,” and his entrance music features that same phrase. Although there hadn’t been much recent news, a new rumor indicates he might appear on the first Monday Night Raw of 2026, and this could be a hint confirming those reports.
The hint wasn’t very subtle – it was pretty obvious – but it fits with everything Adam Pearce has been hinting at. He packed the short video with clues, including playful references to the Stranger Things partnership, and even borrowed some style from Becky Lynch’s recent wrestling promos. Check it out below!
If Chris Jericho appears on Monday Night Raw, it’s interesting to think about what he’ll do. He might challenge a lesser-known wrestler, or he could even help CM Punk during his championship match against Bron Breakker if The Vision tries anything unfair.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson explained he chose not to pursue a career in UFC or another more physically demanding sport because he didn’t want to risk taking punches to the face. He preferred to stay with WWE where that risk was lower.
Chris Jericho could be the next former wrestler to come back to WWE, joining Dolph Ziggler and Matt Cardona (Chelsea Green’s husband) who have already returned. A rivalry with either Ziggler or Cardona would be a great way for Jericho, and them, to re-establish themselves in WWE after working on other projects.
I was disappointed to hear reports that Jericho might return on Monday Night Raw instead of waiting for the Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. However, I’d been seeing rumors about this since August, so it wasn’t really a shock for me or others who follow WWE news closely.
We’ll find out if he’ll be there when Monday Night Raw starts streaming on Netflix this Monday, January 5th, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Hopefully, there will be other unexpected moments too – maybe even a Demogorgon making an appearance in the ring!
