Jesy Nelson breaks down in tears as she reveals her eight-month-old twin daughters  have been diagnosed with a severe muscular disease

Jesy Nelson recently shared difficult news about her health, coming eight months after she had her twin daughters.

On Sunday, the former Little Mix singer shared a heartfelt video on Instagram revealing that her daughters, Ocean and Story, have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, following a very difficult three to four months.

This disease affects the nerves and muscles, leading to increasing weakness and muscle loss because of the breakdown of nerve cells that control muscles.

Jesy became emotional while describing the condition, explaining that it impacts all of the body’s muscles – including those used for movement, breathing, and swallowing – and ultimately leads to muscle loss over time.

‘If it’s not treated in time your baby’s life expectancy will not make it past the age of two.’

Jesy and her partner Zion welcomed their twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, on May 15, 2025. Jesy had a challenging pregnancy and spent a lot of time in the hospital. The girls were born prematurely and needed to stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) afterward.
