Fans were surprised to see his drastically changed appearance when he left his Los Angeles home – he had shaved his head and looked very thin.
Those close to Mickey Rourke say his current appearance isn’t shocking, considering his history with substance use, and multiple facial surgeries over the years.
The 73-year-old actor, once a major Hollywood star known for his good looks, looked very different when he was spotted on New Year’s Day.
The actor was photographed receiving a Taco Bell delivery at his house, shortly after news surfaced that he might be evicted due to owing around $60,000 in back rent.
According to a source at the Daily Mail, Robert Downey Jr. may seem wealthy, but he actually lives paycheck to paycheck. He spends money so quickly that he ends up back at zero every time he receives a payment.
In his most recent appearance, Rourke has lost much of his hair, leaving him nearly bald. Sources say this is likely due to his famously wild and energetic lifestyle.
He was known for being incredibly good-looking, so it’s understandable that people are reacting with criticism or mockery now that his appearance has changed.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Rourke’s representatives for comment.

According to a source, Mickey has struggled with substance abuse throughout his life. So, it’s not shocking that recent, unedited photos show how much he’s aged, as he doesn’t have the help of movie makeup and special effects anymore.
As for his finances, the insider shared that the former leading man is ‘rich poor.’
He’s not earning enough from his movies to maintain his lifestyle. He lives paycheck to paycheck, and could be financially secure if he managed his money more carefully.
According to a source, he’s financially unstable despite earning a lot from movies and reality TV. He makes a substantial income, but spends it so quickly that he ends up broke again almost as soon as he starts earning.
From what I’m hearing, this actor is really confident he’s going to work things out and stay in his home. He’s determined to reach a deal that prevents any eviction – it sounds like he’s optimistic about finding a solution!
‘He’s confident that he will keep his place and make some sort of deal to remain living there.’
The source also mentioned that Rourke can be challenging to work with and isn’t always popular, but things generally work out in the end, and they expect this situation to follow the same pattern.
On Thursday, Rourke was seen leaving his house looking weak and wearing a striped sweater, a rosary, and no shoes.

The actor has lost a significant amount of hair recently. Photos from August 11th show he had much fuller hair at that time.
Documents filed in Los Angeles court on Monday and obtained by the Daily Mail show that actor Mickey Rourke received a notice on December 18th demanding he pay $59,100 in back rent or move out. The complaint, filed by Eric T. Goldie, claims Rourke owed this amount at the time.
Philip Rourke Jr., known as Rourke, started renting the three-bedroom house in March. He signed a lease agreement on March 30th for a monthly rent of $5,200.
According to the lawsuit, the rent for the house, which has two and a half bathrooms, was increased to $7,000 starting in the second month Rourke lived there.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the house Rourke rents has a significant place in Los Angeles history. Built in 1926, it was once home to Raymond Chandler, the famous crime novelist, during the 1940s.
The house is in a prime location in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles. It’s conveniently close to West Hollywood, and just a short walk from the popular Grove shopping center and the Farmer’s Market.
The complaint states that Rourke wasn’t at home on December 18th when someone tried to deliver the three-day eviction notice, so it was left outside his house.
Besides the $59,100 Rourke supposedly owes in unpaid rent, Goldie is asking the court to make him cover her legal costs and terminate the lease. This would likely force Rourke to move out, even if he were to pay the back rent.
The actor once starred in acclaimed films by directors like Francis Ford Coppola and Darren Aronofsky, but his career has sharply declined. This downturn was highlighted earlier this year when he was removed from Celebrity Big Brother due to controversial statements.
Walter Rourke used to be famous for his handsome, tough appearance and captivating personality. However, his looks have changed significantly, mainly because he had a lot of plastic surgery after being injured during his boxing career.
In April, Rourke suffered a controversial exit from the UK edition of Celebrity Big Brother.

It was really upsetting to watch him leave the house. He’d really hurt a lot of people, and honestly, seeing JoJo Siwa so upset after his comments… it was clear things had gone too far. His remarks were just unacceptable, and everyone felt they had homophobic undertones. It was a tough situation, and ultimately, he had to go.
He once said he could change her sexual orientation and often labeled her as ‘the lesbian,’ but Siwa didn’t back down. She later described his actions as painful, while also acknowledging he seemed to be struggling with his own issues.
Before being removed from the house, he upset his housemate and TOWIE star Ella Rae Wise so much that she cried after he made a deeply offensive sexual remark.
Rourke has been honest about his career struggles, saying it’s currently failing. He attributes this to his quick temper, which has repeatedly caused problems with directors and was again evident during his difficult time on a reality TV show.
He explained to The Sun that his difficulty getting leading roles in major films was due to his quick temper, which prevented him from accepting projects he considered meaningful.
He explained that he wants to collaborate with directors who feel comfortable with him and appreciate his current skills, rather than being influenced by his past work or fame.
‘I’ve made mistakes, many, I have nobody to blame for my ship sinking except myself.’
During the 1980s and early 1990s, Robert Downey Jr. was considered one of Hollywood’s most captivating and unique leading actors, earning praise for his roles in films like 9½ Weeks, Angel Heart, and Rumble Fish.

He became known for his intense and captivating presence, and he won critical acclaim for his portrayal of a character inspired by the poet and alcoholic Charles Bukowski in the 1987 movie, Barfly.
By the early 1990s, his acting career began to decline when he left Hollywood to become a professional boxer. This led to several injuries that significantly altered his appearance.
Rourke had a history in martial arts, achieving his first major victory when he was just twelve years old. He later began a professional fighting career in 1991, at the age of thirty-nine.
He explained to the Daily Mail in 2009 that he returned to boxing because he felt embarrassed to stop. He’d been a promising amateur fighter, but took a year off after suffering a concussion. Growing up, he trained at the same Miami gym where Muhammad Ali famously prepared for his fights. Throughout his amateur career, he fought 142 times, losing only three bouts.
I was so thrilled when he said he’d come back for one last fight! But one fight turned into eight, and honestly, it was amazing to watch. Sadly, doctors eventually told him he needed to stop due to some issues with his brain, and it was heartbreaking to hear, but ultimately, it was the right decision.
‘I didn’t lose any pro fights, but I got properly kicked every day in the gym,’ he said.
The actor, originally from New York, revealed he’d broken his nose twice, requiring five surgeries, and also fractured his cheekbone.
I needed surgery to rebuild my nose using cartilage from my ear, and I had a couple more procedures to remove scar tissue that wasn’t healing well. That nose surgery was really painful, but I actually found dealing with hemorrhoids even worse.
People have long been curious about Robert De Niro’s changing appearance, wondering if it was caused by his boxing career or cosmetic procedures gone wrong.
I mostly needed help fixing my face after boxing, but unfortunately, I chose the wrong doctor to do the surgery,” he said.

You know, I’ve followed Michael Jackson’s story for years, and it’s always been heartbreaking to see the pressures he faced. Back in the day, his first wife, Debra Feuer, actually shared with the Mirror that she believed a lot of his surgeries stemmed from deep-seated insecurity. It really highlights how much self-doubt can impact someone, even – and perhaps especially – someone in the public eye.
According to his ex-wife, who was married to him from 1981 to 1989, his condition deteriorated after he met Carre Otis.
Oh my god, she really struggled, you know, with substance abuse, but she was just… breathtaking. Mickey was totally captivated, completely obsessed with being near her. That’s when things started changing with him, too. He started getting work done! I shouldn’t be saying this, but he was desperate for a role in this one movie, absolutely desperate, and he actually got cheek implants! Can you believe it? He wanted to look like her. It’s… it’s just so sad and fascinating all at once.
He said his face was swollen from having his molars removed, but I knew he was lying. He didn’t even have any molars.
In 2017, Rourke revealed he had undergone a nose surgery, posting a photo of himself recovering in the hospital.
Right after his nose surgery with Dr. Dhir, he wrote that he felt ‘pretty’ again, though he was still a bit emotional about it. He mentioned having one more procedure to go and admitted he was so out of it that he hadn’t even realized the surgery was over.
Even though his appearance had changed and he’d gained a negative reputation in Hollywood, director Darren Aronofsky gave Rourke an opportunity to revive his career.
He truly shone in the 2008 film The Wrestler, earning widespread praise for his portrayal of Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson, a former wrestling star struggling with age, injuries, and past mistakes.
This role won him a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and his first – and only – Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
Oh, he had a little moment, you know? He was in Iron Man 2 and The Expendables, both in 2010! I was so excited! But sadly, it just…didn’t last. Things kind of faded for him again after that, which honestly, broke my heart. It just wasn’t the comeback I’d hoped for.
Sources say this is likely because of his difficult behavior on set and ongoing disagreements with fellow actors. He famously clashed with Robert De Niro, despite once saying he greatly admired him.
Their long-standing feud in the media began when they worked together in the 1987 film Angel Heart.

The feud resurfaced in 2019 when he said Martin Scorsese had offered him a role in his movie The Irishman, but Robert De Niro blocked the opportunity.
When Mickey Rourke claimed he was passed over for a role in ‘The Irishman,’ Robert De Niro’s representatives immediately denied it. According to a Page Six article titled ‘Robert De Niro: Mickey Rourke is lying about The Irishman snub,’ De Niro’s team stated Rourke was never considered for the film at any point.
In July 2020, 67-year-old Mickey Rourke publicly challenged two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro on Instagram, issuing a strong warning.
I’m warning you, if I see you, I promise, on my family and everything I care about, I will publicly humiliate you without a doubt.
The actor has sparked controversy both for his personal and professional life.
The actor was once accused of threatening his then-wife, Carre Otis, during their honeymoon. Reports claimed he held a gun to her head and threatened to take his own life with a traditional Japanese sword if she refused to marry him.
Four years before their 1998 divorce, Rourke was arrested following accusations that he physically assaulted Otis, allegedly slapping and kicking him. However, the charges were ultimately dismissed.
