BBC tells new Traitors star to delete photos on Instagram of him doing NAKED HANDSTANDS

A Traitors star has a secret social media account featuring his own backside in an array of poses.

Matthew, a 35-year-old Creative Director from Northern Ireland, appeared for the first time on the BBC One show when it returned for a new season on January 1st.

The latest episode of the show revealed host Claudia Winkleman choosing a fourth player to be a ‘Traitor’ – someone secretly working against the others – but their identity is still a mystery to both the contestants and viewers. Twenty-two new players were also introduced.

Matthew, a presenter known as ‘Faithful,’ has already been cautioned by BBC management after they found his Instagram account. The account contains nude photos of him doing handstands in countryside and mountain settings.

The Daily Mail reports that the Instagram account, with over 16,000 followers and only six posts, previously featured more pictures of Matthew posing with his buttocks, sometimes covered by a peach emoji.

Before going on TV, I advised a client to take down some of the more revealing photos he’d posted. He wasn’t thrilled about the idea of deleting the account altogether, and honestly, I get that – it’s a balance between presenting a polished image and staying true to yourself. We ended up finding a good middle ground by simply removing the most problematic content.

According to a source speaking to the Daily Mail, Matthew received a warning about his social media account featuring nude handstands before the new season of The Traitors began.

Although his work is artistically well-executed – he was even asked to create a piece for the Royal Academy of Arts – it still sparks debate, particularly for the BBC.

Before appearing on shows like The Apprentice or The Traitors, the BBC thoroughly checks each contestant’s online presence. For example, Matthew was asked to take down some photos from a private social media account.

‘It’s all a bit of fun, but some viewers may find posts of his naked backside offensive.’

Matthew’s Instagram bio says, ‘Yes, they’re real. Instagram hates my’ and includes a peach emoji.

He recently shared an old photo where he playfully covered himself with an emoji. A new follower then jokingly asked if he could do the same thing while filming the show ‘The Traitors’.

A November 2024 post shows Matthew doing a headstand in the snow, with a playfully captioned view of his chilly, pink backside. He wrote, ‘How it feels in Edinburgh today.’

Matthew explained he applied to The Traitors because it looked like a fun adventure. He’d made a New Year’s resolution to be more adventurous – initially thinking of things like hiking and camping – but after enjoying the show, he decided to try out for it himself.

The Daily Mail has contacted a Traitor’s representative for comment.

Matthew is confident he’ll be a strong asset on the show’s missions, especially since they frequently involve physical strength and stamina. He’s well-prepared for these challenges, having experience with tough endurance events and surviving in cold climates.

I focus on being a valuable asset, and I’m not easily intimidated. I’m physically fit – I swim and enjoy sports regularly, so I’m confident with any physical challenges. I also do a lot of climbing and bouldering, which means I’m comfortable with heights and actually look forward to those kinds of missions.

I’m most looking forward to the missions – they’re a great way to prove we’re committed to winning prizes for the team and potentially earning a shield.

One of the twenty-two new contestants on the show – which also features people from all walks of life, including a retired police officer, a barrister, a lawyer, and a nursery teacher – has shared his plans for the prize money if he wins.

Before going into the castle, Matthew shared that he hopes to one day buy a cozy cottage in the Scottish Highlands. He plans to live there with his fiancé, whom he proposed to before the COVID-19 pandemic began.

He shared that he actively supported the fight for marriage equality in Northern Ireland before it became legal in 2020. He then playfully suggested that if he reached the final round of the competition, he might finally get married himself.

Matthew shared that he’s dreamed of many ways to spend the money, but he’d probably buy a small cottage in the Scottish Highlands. He visits the area often and often pictures himself living there.

My partner and I became engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic. I had previously worked to achieve marriage equality in Northern Ireland, as they only allowed civil partnerships before same-sex marriage became legal in 2020.

‘At the time I was campaigning, I didn’t think I wanted to get married, but now I feel like I do.

Now that I’ve worked to support marriage equality, it would be a more meaningful moment to reach the final round of the competition – it just doesn’t feel right to compete against someone who’s openly hoping to get married!

I’m planning to get married back home on my family farm in Northern Ireland. Winning this would definitely help make that happen.
