Paul Chuckle surprisingly stated that he and his late brother, Barry, believed they could have defeated the infamous and violent Kray twins in a fight.
Most people remember the 78-year-old comedian and his brother, who died in 2018, for their silly children’s show, Chucklevision, and their famous catchphrase, ‘to me, to you.’ They’re much more known for comedy than anything related to crime.
Paul, who plays a mob boss in his new film Fall To The Top, believes he and Barry could have easily dealt with notorious gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray.
In the 1960s, the Kray twins dominated London’s East End criminal scene through a combination of brutal violence and fear.
After 12 years of controlling the London underworld through violence and intimidation, the nightclub owners were finally arrested in 1969. The charges stemmed from the murders of rival gangsters Jack ‘the Hat’ McVitie and George Cornell, bringing their criminal activity to an end.
Paul joked that he and Barry would have arrested the Kray twins and then carefully retreated.

When offered a role as a gangster in a film, I immediately thought, ‘Perfect!’ It felt like a natural fit, considering I used to playfully tease my brother Barry when we were the Chuckle Brothers. This role was just taking that a step further.
Now that his comedy partner Barry is gone, he shared how much he misses him, especially performing together on stage after working alongside him for more than 50 years.
The comedy duo first gained recognition by winning the talent show Opportunity Knocks in 1967. They later became famous for their long-running children’s TV show, Chucklevision, which aired from 1987 to 2009.
Barry tragically died from cancer in 2018 at the age of 74.
I was so thrilled to hear that Paul received an MBE in the King’s New Year Honours! It’s wonderful recognition for all his incredible work with Marie Curie, a truly vital charity here in the UK. He’s made such an outstanding contribution to their mission, and this is so well-deserved.
In October 2016, the brothers officially began working as ambassadors for Marie Curie, and they consistently supported the organization by fundraising, donating items for auctions, and promoting campaigns online.
Since Barry passed away, Paul has remained dedicated to his work as a Marie Curie Ambassador. He’s particularly passionate about the charity because he saw firsthand how much support Barry received from Marie Curie nurses, making it a cause very close to his heart.
Paul expressed his delight and surprise at receiving the honor. He and Barry had proudly supported Marie Curie for many years, and Paul was happy to continue that support after Barry’s passing.

I’m truly grateful to the charity for nominating me, but the real heroes are the doctors, nurses, hospice staff, charity shop workers, and Marie Curie volunteers. They’re the ones who deserve recognition for the incredible work they do, helping families face the end of life with less fear and pain, day after day.
Paul’s next acting role is a dramatic departure, as he’ll be playing a murderer connected to the dark and dangerous world of drugs in London.
On set photos showed Paul looking cool and mysterious in a leather jacket and sunglasses, casually drinking whiskey.
As a huge fan, I was really surprised to hear from director Peter Hirst that the new project is going to be much darker and more intense than anything we’ve seen from Mr. Chuckle before. He told The Sun it’s going to be a really different side of the performer, with a lot more violence and a heavier tone.
I wrote it thinking about him specifically. I was watching him on TV, and when he smiled, I briefly sensed a hidden, darker side to his personality that I hadn’t seen before.
He was enthusiastic from the moment I contacted him. Working with him has been great, and he’s quickly excelled in a new and challenging position.
