Although it’s still over a year away, the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie is already surpassing Infinity War in terms of anticipation. Marvel Studios has confirmed that this next big film, featuring Doctor Doom played by Robert Downey Jr. and a battle against threats from across the multiverse, will tie together everything that’s happened in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the last six years. It’s all building towards an epic, universe-spanning conflict in 2027’s Secret Wars.
The next big Marvel movie is scheduled for release in December 2026, and the marketing has already started to build excitement for this sequel to Endgame. Though it has a lot to live up to, the first trailer suggests this film will bring something new and exciting to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The first teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is already a hit, quickly surpassing the initial response to Avengers: Endgame in one key area. It’s earned over 534,000 likes on X (formerly Twitter), making it only the second Avengers trailer debut to reach that number. For comparison, the Endgame teaser received 528,000 likes – a total built up over seven years of online activity.
Notably, the first teaser for Doomsday has already received twice as many likes as the initial teaser for Infinity War, which only garnered around 230,000.

The trailer for Thor’s Avengers Doomsday is already proving popular, gaining over 379,000 likes on X (formerly Twitter). This is remarkable considering the trailer doesn’t feature a big reveal like the one in Steve’s trailer – it simply showcases a speech by Thor.
Many people might be surprised by this success, especially since some believe audiences are getting tired of superhero movies. This idea started gaining traction after the first trailer for Doomsday was released.
The movie has three more trailers planned for release in the coming weeks, and it will be interesting to see if it can keep up this initial online excitement or if the first trailer was just a one-time success.
The next Avengers movie, titled Doomsday, will be directed by the team behind Endgame, The Russo Brothers. The film follows Earth’s heroes as they face a new danger – the villain Doctor Doom – who is causing trouble across the multiverse. The Avengers will travel through different realities and meet other heroes along the way. Doomsday is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
Could Avengers: Doomsday Be Another Record-Breaker For Marvel?

For longtime Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, the overwhelmingly positive response to the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer has been amazing to witness. After years of wondering if the franchise had peaked, and with some people starting to talk about “superhero fatigue,” it’s surprising and exciting to see a trailer generating this much buzz almost 20 years after the MCU began.
Even though Doomsday is being compared to Endgame in terms of its potential impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that doesn’t guarantee it will be as incredibly successful as the last Avengers film.
As a film buff, it’s easy to forget just how massive Endgame was – it’s still the second highest-grossing movie ever! That’s a seriously tough benchmark, and honestly, Doomsday has a huge challenge ahead of it if it hopes to even get close to that level of success.
Marvel Studios is clearly going all-out to build excitement for the next Avengers movie. They’ve started promoting it a full year before its release – something no studio has ever done before – hoping to keep audiences talking and drive ticket sales for a whole year.
Currently, the new Marvel team-up movie, Doomsday, faces a challenge that Endgame didn’t: direct competition at the box office. Dune 3 is still planned for release on the same day. While the Dune films haven’t performed as well as the Avengers movies in terms of box office revenue, Marvel will still need to monitor its potential impact.
I’m a little worried that releasing Dune at the same time as Doomsday might split the audience, and it could end up making less money than it would have if it had been the only big movie out on December 18th. I really think it deserves to have the spotlight all to itself!
