Mariah Carey returned to the New Year’s Rockin‘ Eve stage on Wednesday, performing live nine years after a previous issue with lip-syncing.
The singer, 56, recently spotted in Aspen, made a statement in a short, pink ombre dress embellished with stones, paired with striking silver thigh-high boots.
She sang her popular 2009 song, “Obsessed,” live for the enthusiastic crowd in Times Square.
I’ve always been captivated by Mariah Carey’s hair! It’s her trademark – those incredibly long, blonde waves, perfectly parted right down the middle. They’re styled into these gorgeous, bouncy spirals that cascade over her chest – it’s just stunning and instantly recognizable.
The famous singer held a gold microphone while performing at the big New Year’s Eve celebration for 2026.
Almost ten years ago, technical difficulties caused her to fall out of sync with the music she was pretending to sing along to, and she abruptly left the stage.

Years ago, the popular singer was scheduled to perform her hits “Emotions” and “We Belong Together” to ring in 2017 and say goodbye to 2016, right before the New Year’s Eve ball drop.
However, she struggled to hear her backing music and eventually stopped pretending to sing.
She stood with a hand on her hip, listening to a recording of her voice play back without her singing along.
Clearly frustrated by the mistake happening live in front of millions of viewers, Carey started walking back and forth across the stage.
Despite the tech issues, she told the crowd: ‘I’m trying to be a good sport here.’
The singer continued performing as her dancers kept going with their choreography, but they quickly became disoriented. Shrugging it off with a ‘What can you do?’ and a resigned ‘It’s not going to improve,’ she left the stage.
Afterward she brushed off the disaster, writing ‘s*** happens’ in an Instagram post.
With a playful smile, she wished everyone a happy and healthy new year, and expressed her hope for continued success and attention in 2017.
The year concluded on a difficult note, as she also experienced the end of her engagement to James Packer, the Australian billionaire.

The actress revealed in mid-December that she’ll be kicking off the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, this February.
The singer, known for their decades-long career, announced on Instagram that they’re planning to release an album of 90s grunge music next year.
Wearing a striking red dress and sparkling diamonds, she announced, ‘Hello! Prepare yourselves for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games!’

She added a touch of Italian, saying, ‘I’ll see you at the San Siro Stadium in Milan on February 6th for the Olympic Opening Ceremony!’
She echoed the closing phrase in her caption, which translates to ‘See you in Milan.’
The official Instagram account for the Milano Cortina event posted a promotional poster and playfully referenced Mariah Carey’s popular song ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ with the caption, ‘All I want for THE OPENING CEREMONY is youuuuuuuu!’
