The latest Harlan Coben thriller arrives on Netflix this week with “Run Away,” which is already receiving positive reviews. Based on Coben’s novel of the same name, this eight-part miniseries will be available all at once on January 1st.
This series centers on a father’s frantic search for his missing daughter. His quest quickly becomes entangled with a murder investigation, and he begins to reveal family secrets that could have devastating consequences.
Initial reviews are starting to come in before the movie’s release, and so far, Run Away has earned an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on feedback from six critics.

The show’s Rotten Tomatoes score is likely to change as more reviews come in before and after its Netflix release. Also, audience scores for Run Away won’t be available on Rotten Tomatoes until after it premieres on January 1st.
Critics are enjoying the new Netflix series, Run Away, starring Minnie Driver and James Nesbitt, who frequently appears in Harlan Coben adaptations. The show is being praised for its exciting plot twists – a signature of Coben’s writing – but reviewers say Run Away stays engaging throughout its eight episodes and may be one of Coben’s best adaptations yet.
| Netflix’s Harlan Coben TV Adaptations | Rotten Tomatoes Score |
|---|---|
| The Innocent | 100% |
| Stay Close | 92% |
| The Woods | 89% |
| The Stranger | 87% |
| Run Away | 83% |
| Just One Look | 83% |
| Fool Me Once | 72% |
| Safe | 71% |
| Missing You | 50% |
| Caught | 50% |
With an 83% rating, Run Away is one of the best-reviewed shows based on Harlan Coben’s books on Netflix. While it didn’t quite reach the high scores of Stay Close (92%) and The Innocent (100%) from 2021, or The Stranger (87%) and The Woods (89%) from 2020, it’s currently performing as well as the 2025 series Just One Look.
As a big fan of Harlan Coben adaptations, I’m really excited to see the new series is getting fantastic reviews! It’s already scoring higher on Rotten Tomatoes than other recent Netflix Coben shows like Fool Me Once, Safe, Missing You, and Caught. Considering how well Coben’s shows did a few years ago, this new success feels like Netflix is getting back to that level of critical acclaim with these thrillers.
