Mark Feehily’s social media return sparks questions as all his Westlife bandmates snub his first post in a year after he pulled out of group’s 25th anniversary tour amid health battles

Westlife fans are puzzled by a recent social media post from Mark Feehily, as his bandmates haven’t responded to it.

The 45-year-old singer excited his fans with his first social media post in over a year. He had been unwell, which meant he couldn’t join Westlife on their current world tour.

I’ve been so worried about him lately. He’s been dealing with some serious health issues for years now, and it’s really taken a toll. It’s been heartbreaking to see him struggle with touring and performing, and even step away from social media to focus on getting better. I’m sending him all my love and hoping he can prioritize his health.

Mark recently returned to Instagram with a photo of himself at RTE Radio 1 in Ireland, letting fans know he’ll be hosting three shows on the station.

He apologized for not being there, explaining that he’s still recovering and won’t be able to perform on the tour, which he’s very upset about.

The Irish musician was thrilled with how fans have responded, expressing gratitude for their consistent support.

Mark’s unexpected comeback thrilled his fans, who quickly shared messages of support and happiness in the comments.

Despite his post, some fans noticed that his bandmates – Kian Egan, Shane Filan, and Nicky Byrne – hadn’t reacted to it at all.

Kian Egan’s wife, Jodi Albert, was the only person from the Westlife group to publicly offer support, responding with several heart emojis.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Mark wouldn’t be able to rejoin his band. He’s been dealing with health issues since a routine surgery in August 2020.

A few days after the procedure, he developed intense pain and had to be hospitalized. His condition quickly worsened, leading to sepsis.

He was critically ill with COVID-19 and spent months in the ICU, needing urgent surgery.

In late 2021, Mark became seriously ill with pneumonia just before a planned concert.

A chest infection caused him to miss several concerts on Westlife’s Wild Dreams Tour and unfortunately hindered his progress in getting better.

After recovering from pneumonia, Mark still experienced health problems related to his previous illnesses and operations.

He developed a bulge at the site of a previous surgery, which needed another operation to fix.

He’s had four significant surgeries in the past four and a half years due to ongoing health issues.

Mark shared some positive news this week, announcing he’ll be hosting radio shows three days a week: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

He started his message with a warm greeting: ‘Hi! Just wanted to send a quick note to say I’ve been thinking of you. I apologize for not posting lately… I really miss you!’

Honestly, it’s been killing me watching the tour kick off without being there. Seeing everyone have fun while I’m stuck here… it’s just so hard! I wish I could be at every show, part of the whole experience with you all.

It’s been truly incredible to see our band continue to thrive, and we’re so grateful for the amazing support we still receive from fans all over the world – especially from you!

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to experience amazing connections, and looking back, I’m still blown away by the support we received right from the very beginning in Sligo back in the late 90s. Building Westlife over the last three decades – honestly, thousands of days and nights spent together on stage, in the studio, and traveling everywhere imaginable – is something I’m immensely proud of. It’s a journey fueled by incredible people, and I’m still humbled by it all.

This 25th anniversary tour will be a fantastic way to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished together!

He explained that he isn’t prepared to go on a large world tour just yet.

I need some time to rest and recharge, but I’m really grateful that hosting a radio show is much less physically and mentally taxing than going on a huge world tour. I feel lucky to be able to do this new show on RTÉ Radio 1.

This isn’t a massive concert, but it’s a really important milestone for me! Taking a break right now would actually be harmful to my health and wellbeing, so I’m diving in!

Westlife honored Mark during a performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall in October, celebrating their 25th anniversary, and confirmed he remains a member of the group.

When the group performed their 1999 hit, “Flying Without Wings,” they had singer Kirsten Joy, known from The Voice and Clean Bandit, perform the parts originally sung by Mark. Those lines are widely considered to be the best the group ever recorded.

During the concert, where the band performed with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Shane honored their friend and bandmate, Mark, who couldn’t be there that night.

‘But we love him, we miss him, and we cannot wait to have him back on this stage with us…

He’s really into the new music, including ‘Chariot’ which you’ve already heard. Plus, we’re releasing a new album in February!

I absolutely have to dedicate this next song to Mark – it’s his all-time favorite! Hopefully, that gives you a little clue as to what it is. It’s such a gorgeous tune, and we really want to play it for him tonight. I’m so excited to have Kirsten Joy join us on stage to sing it with us!

‘This song is probably the song that changed our whole career.’

Even though the singer wasn’t there in October, Shane explained how important it was to have Mark involved in the music and praised his excellent vocals on their new tracks.

Oh my gosh, I just read this interview, and it’s heartbreaking, but also… a little hopeful? Apparently, Mark won’t be able to come on tour with the band, which is devastating, honestly. He already said something about it, but hearing it officially… ugh. But! The best part is he is on the new song! He said being part of the song was really important to him, so at least we’ll still get something new with him involved. It’s not the same as seeing him live, but I’ll take what I can get! I’m just glad he’s still contributing in some way, even if he can’t tour. I’m trying to stay positive!

He’s still with the band and sounds fantastic on our new music. We’ve recorded four new songs and plan to release an album after Christmas.

This album is a collection of popular songs, plus four brand new tracks. One of the new songs, which will be released next Friday, is a really energetic and positive track, and we’re excited to have the artist featured on it.
