The ‘sucker punch to the gut’ Britney Spears dealt her family over Christmas: Insiders reveal why there’s still ‘hope of reconciliation’ even after THAT Instagram post

I’m a big Britney fan, and I noticed something a little sad recently. Right after Christmas, she shared a picture of her Christmas tree on Instagram, but she didn’t look very happy or festive in the photo, which worried me. It just didn’t seem like she was feeling the holiday spirit.

In the caption, the singer wrote a seemingly sarcastic note addressed to her family.

Britney Spears, 44, wished her family a belated Merry Christmas, expressing gratitude for their consistent respect and support, and noting they’ve never caused her serious harm or lasting trauma.

To my wonderful family, I’m so sorry I couldn’t be with you this Christmas. I’ve been really busy, but I’m planning a surprise visit soon and I can’t wait to see you all!

The Daily Mail has discovered that Britney Spears’s family is upset by a recent critical post. They believe it’s because her son, 20-year-old Sean Preston Federline, spent Christmas with them instead of with Britney. A photo of Sean Preston with Britney’s family was shared online by her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears.

According to two family members who spoke with the Daily Mail, the harsh letter caused them pain, particularly because they say she’s ignored their attempts to contact her for months.

A family member in Louisiana told the Daily Mail that the incident was a shock. They described it as a sudden, painful blow – like being punched in the stomach – and especially upsetting because it happened during the holidays.

It was especially painful for Jamie Lynn and Lynne, because they’d hoped things were improving with her and that they might be able to rebuild their relationship. Being publicly criticized like that caught them off guard, and they didn’t believe they had done anything wrong.

Another family member echoed the statement.

“It’s just painful,” our second source shared. “But there’s nothing we can do about it now. I feel bad that she’s upset, but she has everyone’s contact information and could reach out to family directly instead of airing this publicly and inviting opinions.”

Jamie Lynn, age 34, shared photos from her family’s Christmas celebration with the message ‘Merry CHRISTMAS.’ She was joined by her husband, Jamie Watson, their daughters Ivey, 7, and Maddie, 17, her nephew, and her mother, Lynne, who is 70.

Sources close to Britney Spears say she was upset that her son chose to celebrate Christmas with Jamie Lynn’s family instead of traveling to California to be with her and his brother, Jayden James Federline, who is 19.

According to a family member, Sean was already planning to be in Louisiana for something else. Since he’s very close to his cousins, he decided to use the trip to visit his grandmother, aunt, and the rest of the family. They don’t believe this should be a point of contention.

Britney Spears has been estranged from her family for years, a situation that became especially strained during and after her 13-year conservatorship, which concluded in November 2021. Her family reports that communication is infrequent and often difficult.

According to one family member, she connects with people only when it suits her, and she creates space when she needs to. They also noted she frequently prefers to address issues in public instead of having private conversations.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Spears for comment.

As her ex-husband Kevin Federline released his memoir in October, Britney Spears publicly accused him of manipulating her, describing it as both painful and draining. She also expressed feeling discouraged about her relationship with her sons, stating she has consistently wished for a closer connection with them.

She claimed she had seen one of her sons for only ’45 minutes in the past five years.’

Britney Spears has seen her sons within the past year, according to Kevin Federline, 47. He told the Daily Mail that while they have fairly open communication, it’s not as close as it should be.

He described the situation as evolving and requiring attention. He believes there’s potential for positive development, but his adult sons need to determine their own path forward. He wants them to establish their own identities and not be defined by this ongoing issue.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were married for almost three years, divorcing in 2007. During the period she was under conservatorship, she didn’t see her two sons very often. Recently, though, things have improved, and her son Jayden James spent Christmas with her.

However, Britney’s family had previously expressed worry about her after the Daily Mail published video showing her driving erratically – including swerving into the wrong lane and speeding up suddenly.

I remember reading in the Daily Mail that things were really tough for her, and her family was having emergency meetings. One source even suggested she needed to be placed back under a conservatorship – it was a scary time for those of us who were following her story closely.

One source described the situation as frightening, saying there was a lot of discussion about how to help her, and whether intervention was even possible, given her self-destructive tendencies.

But it appears her family is still hopeful that there will be some sort of reconciliation.

One family member thought it was positive that Sean Preston spent the holidays in Louisiana, but he’s returning to California for New Year’s. According to a source, Britney Spears is also welcome to join them down south.

According to a source, Britney is always welcome and loved by her family and friends. They want her to know she can always come to them, no matter what challenges she faces.
