Jessie J shares emotional tribute as she marks the seventh anniversary of the death of her bodyguard Dave

Jessie J posted a heartfelt message on Instagram Monday, remembering her bodyguard Dave on the seventh anniversary of his passing.

The 37-year-old singer posted a touching video showing fun moments with Dave, from playful times behind the scenes at concerts to their travels around the globe.

Oh my gosh, Jessie just broke my heart! She said she’d do absolutely anything to see him again – her ‘big bro,’ isn’t that the sweetest? And get this – she’s already telling her little Sky, who’s only two, all about their adventures together! It’s like she’s keeping his memory alive for him, and honestly, I’m sobbing. It’s just…everything!

In a short video clip, Jessie playfully pretends to sing into a microphone while the song Uptown Funk plays. She then playfully pulls Dave closer, and they both share a laugh.

In a video from around 2013, Jessie shaved her head for charity and invited Dave onstage. While she sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him, the crowd cheered.

It’s just so hard to accept that he’s gone. I wish I could make a new memory with him, like a new video, but all I can do is keep rewatching the old ones until we’re together again, my brother.

I’m thinking of you and miss you terribly. I often tell Sky about all the fun trips we took together. He says you’re living among the clouds and send your love.

‘If you hear me talking to you today, come say hi. 7 years.’

Shortly after Dave died in 2018, Jessie shared a post remembering their close friendship, calling him ‘family’.

She wrote about the deep love for her children, saying it meant everything. They shared so much joy, often laughing until tears streamed down their faces nearly every day.

We built a world together with Penelope and her blue Shetland pony, sharing our hopes and fears. You’ve been more than just someone I rely on – you’re family. Four years of us together.

I’ll never forget when you surprised me with that incredible blue Shetland pony cake after finishing up on The Voice Australia – it was such a sweet gesture! And honestly, our trip to see Fifty Shades in Australia was hilarious. We couldn’t stop giggling the entire time, and it’s one of my favorite memories with you.

I’ll always remember you texting me funny messages during breaks while I was filming The Voice. And those late-night walks we took just to clear our heads. It was always a competition to see who could yell ‘banana’ the fastest!

The actress revealed that Dave visited her while she was hospitalized and consistently checked on her during her recovery.

She remembered fondly how he visited her in the hospital, bringing much-needed cheer even when she was still groggy from anesthesia. They shared a laugh, and she appreciated how concerned and caring he was, truly looking after her.

Every day before the tour, you’d motivate me to work out, pushing me to improve and believe in myself.

You always went above and beyond to make sure I could connect with my fans, and you always prioritized our safety.

I’ll never forget how you held my hand for the entire eight-hour flight from Dubai to London when I was really scared during the turbulence. It meant so much to me.

I remember our shopping trips, trying on funny hats and glasses. And I’ll never forget you carrying me to the stage because my shoes couldn’t handle the muddy ground.

I often think about how much we used to laugh together. We had such a great time, Dave. I always admired your dedication to fitness – the way you approached workouts and meals. I envied your discipline, but you’ve actually inspired me to become more disciplined myself.

You clearly adore your dogs, you’re passionate about tattoos and travel, and you have a kind and soothing presence – both in how you act and how you speak.

‘The way you stuck by me when everyone else left. It was me and you in Aus. You were my rock.’

The singer learned her friend had unexpectedly passed away after realizing they’d made plans to meet the week before he died.

She wrote this to ensure everyone remembers the kind and loving person he was. He was a truly gentle soul, and his big heart touched everyone he knew.

‘I love you so much. We were supposed to meet for hot chocolate next week.

I’m so sad to hear about your passing, Dave. I’ll always remember you and hope to see you again someday. Please give your dad a hug for me.

This news follows Jessie’s recent revelation that her cancer might return. She also shared a deeply emotional account of her thoughts and feelings after first being diagnosed.

Jessie J shared in June that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and has since had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.

Jessie recently revealed that she feels fortunate her cancer was detected early, but there’s still a possibility it could return.

Jessie explained that she immediately called her mother after learning about her diagnosis, and shared the sad words she spoke to her.

Jessie recalled immediately calling her mother and telling her, “I can’t die because I have Skye,” as she explained to ABC News.

Jessie shared that she feels incredibly fortunate her cancer was detected early on. She described herself as ‘super lucky’ to have caught it so soon.

Thankfully, it wasn’t serious. We know there’s a possibility it could return, but for now, we’re focusing on enjoying life.

The mother-of-one compared her cancer surgery to an episode of Black Mirror.

The singer revealed she had cosmetic surgery but dislikes general anesthesia, describing the experience as feeling like something out of a ‘Black Mirror’ episode.
