Idris Elba, known for his role in Luther, and bestselling author Richard Osman, who wrote The Thursday Murder Club, are both set to be honored on King Charles III’s New Year Honours list in 2026.
Actor Idris Elba, known for his role in The Wire, has been knighted for his work helping young people. He started the Elba Hope Foundation with his wife, Sabrina, to support them.
Honestly, I’m just accepting this award for all the amazing young people who are part of the Elba Hope Foundation. They’re incredibly talented, driven, and they never give up – they’re the ones who really make the foundation work, you know?

I believe we need to focus more on providing ongoing, real-world help to young people, and remember that we all have a role in guiding them away from violence.
Osman is now an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). He joins other honorees, such as Star Wars actor Warwick Davis and sports broadcaster Gabby Logan, who have also received the honor.

I was so stoked to hear the news! Apparently, the old host of Pointless is totally thrilled, and get this – the actor who played a character in Star Wars said this award is the absolute best thing that’s ever happened to him, even better than being in Star Wars! Can you believe it?
Cynthia Erivo, known for her role in Wicked, has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of her contributions to music and theatre.
As a huge fan, it was so amazing to hear Cynthia Erivo talk about receiving this recognition! She said it’s an honour she never expected, celebrating the work she truly loves – especially music and acting. It really came across how much she cares about her craft and how dedicated she is to continuing to give it her all, and that’s so inspiring!
Alex Greenwood, Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway, and Ella Toone, key players on the victorious Lionesses team that won the Euros this summer, have also been awarded MBEs.

Captain Leah Williamson has been appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), and the team’s successful manager, Sarina Wiegman, will receive an honorary damehood.
Wiegman, who previously led the Netherlands to victory in the Euros, said she was deeply grateful to receive the honour in a statement.
I never expected such kindness and respect when I first came to England, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support from the fans.
The list of new honors also includes the members of England’s women’s rugby team, who won the 2025 Rugby World Cup against Canada last September. Marathon legend Paula Radcliffe, a three-time London Marathon champion, will also be made an OBE.
The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s a special tribute to Dolly Parton! You can find ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops or order it online for only £8.99.
